The engine cooling fan solid state electronic relay failed in 2003, it cost a small amount to fix as I replaced it myself, but I noticed something. the relay is mounted to the drivers side body frame, and its located in an area that has paint on it. the relay needs a good solid connection for its back plate to transfer heat to the frame, but the paint on the frame acts as an insulator thus allowing the relay to get hotter than it needs to. I scratched off the paint behind it, and used some dielectric grease to help with conduction and didn't have any more issues with it.
