The engine locked up on me while driving. The oil pressure light came on and before I had the chance to pull over the engine locked up. According to the owner's manual the warning light will come on for 4 minutes then go off. My engine locked up before the warning signal went off indicating that I had less than 4 minutes to respond. Daimler Chrysler has agreed to pay one half of the repairs costs, however, I feel that the oil screen in the oil pan became clogged as a result of mechanical failure. I have maintained my vehicle according to the owners manual. I feel that this engine design is defective and would like for daimler Chrysler to stand behind thier product by completely paying for the new engine that I had to have. I firmly believe that a 1997 Plymouth Voyager with only 53,865 miles should not need a new engine, when the van has been properly driven and maintained.

Since the late winter of 97/98, the vehicle in question has suffered occasional inexplicable stalls. Usually they would occur when the engine was warm and the car had come to a routine stop (e.g. red light). The car would then stall. More alarmingly, on several occasions it has stalled while moving in traffic creating a potentially dangerous situation. The car has been returned to the dealer for correction over a half dozen times. Twice the "co-Pilot" was installed. The dealer has been unable to recreate or diagnose the problem. Their only suggestions have been to switch to a lower octane fuel and to use only a single key on the keychain. Neither ceased the problem. Subsequently they have only continued to say, bring it back. In the interim, a potentially tragic hazard continues to exist. Please advise as to any alternatives. The primary driver is my wife, patricia flynn, work # 617-424-0665.

This van, slightly over 1 year old, has a history of stalling, windshield wipers going on without reason and off, radio breaking, tape player making noise when not used and the brakes went out the first time, I was told it was fixed, and the very next day they went out again almost causing a serious accident and deaths. This is serious and I would like to know actions taken by NHTSA concerning this as I have seen many other instances/complaints of stalling, windshield wiper problems and serious brake defects and breakdowns on NHTSA's customer complaints on the internet. I believe that NHTSA should give more serious investigative attention against daimler Chrysler concerning the stalling and brake problems as this is putting people's lives in danger it seems on a constant and re-occuring basis!
