The air bag warning light comes on intermittently. According to the information given to me by a local chyrsler dealer, this problem is typically caused by a faulty clock spring, and the driver's side air bag will not deploy when the warning light is on. The clock spring was replaced once under warranty on June 6, 1997, at 7922 miles. My complaint at that time was a crunching sound that came from the area of the steering column, when the steering wheel was turned in either direction.

While driving about 5 mph steering wheel locked up whitout prior warning. Consumer kept driving straight. Vehicle was towed to dealer, and they stated that steering wheel was not locked at time when vehicle was bought. However, vehicle was fine. Prior to steering wheel locking up, the consumer had problems with cruise control disengaging, the windshield wipers malfunctioning and check the engine light come on and staying, but had all fixed. Recently, the consumer says the back lights work intermittently. The consumer is concerned about steering wheel possibly locking again in the future.
