Just informed from mechanic that my front strut towers are rusted through. Driver side is completed rotted away and passenger side should happen after this winter. My 2000 Plymouth Voyager has under 60,000mile and has only 2 owners. I have researched that this is way too frequent in Voyager from 1996 to at least 2000 for their not be a mandate recall on this. The repair cost can cost up to $3000 which most people cannot afford. Through my internet research, I am aware that Chrysler issued some sort of suggested fix for the problem in 1992 but not a recall. This is a serious problem and I know if at least 6 people personally that are having the same problem. Something needs to be done!

Rust has been developing on top of the drivers side front rust tower for several years. Having just taken auto classes became aware that this is a problem that affects safety. Dealers have not mentioned it in the past (while under rust protection warranty). The car is running fine presently, but this is going to be a safety issue when the strut tower separates from the rest of the car due to rust. This is a design flaw for this car. I have been told that is common. There is already a tsb on it (23-044-02). The repair will cost $1,000. I have asked Chrysler for assistance on it and they will not provide any. I have not had the repair work done yet. There is no date of incident, this has existed for at least 5 years, but been unreported.
