This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Pontiac dealer.
My car was stalling in and out about one year or two. Finally went out for good. Now it's up to me to fix it. Got a new accelerator pedal sensor. Nothing at first, so disconnected battery. Put the battery back on and guess what, it works now. My car would run but no power before I put on the new pedal.

The car will drive ok for a while. then starts to not respond as I step on the gas. It is intermittant but has stopped and died twice.
Update from Jun 26, 2014: Took the car to a local shop & they diagnosed an accelerator pedal problem. When the replacement didn't work they said it was a bad part and put another one in. The replacement part didn't work either. Finally, I took it to the dealer and based on advice of master mechanic (brother in law) had the PCM update to the most current software. The dealer was skeptical of flashing the PCM but when they hooked up to the GM site and saw there was a more current update, said OK and that will be $135. The problem of intermittant stalling has been fixed and since I took the car to the dealer before the warranty was out for this problem, I'm trying to get my money back for the PCM flashing. GM may have tweaked the settings too tightly for the car in trying to increase mileage which works when the car is new. As the car ages, the settings cause the fuel mix to be too lean causing stalling. Others say it was software version incompatability. Don't know for sure but it is fixed now. Love the car now as its still good on gas and was a great deal.

I have taken it into the dealership 3 times and it won't do it for them...its not a constant issue but enough to annoy the crap out of me!! they can't do anything if it doesn't do it for them...I'M FRUSTRATED!!! PLEASE HELP!! they looked it up and say its not a common problem...I want them to either buy me out or let me trade it in.

This problem has been happening for the past 3-4 months and the dealership can't find the problem. When I drive, the car starts stalling as I was running out of gaz and I can press the pedal down as much as I want, it doesn't response. After a few seconds it comes back and its fine but sometimes the problem happens every 2-3 minutes for a while.
Update from Mar 31, 2016: got a new car so thanks for your help guys but this is a old complaint i am unable to delete.

We have brought it into the dealership and have been told they cannot find the problem. They scanned it but since no service light comes on and their test drive went okay, they told us they are stumped. This is an intermittent problem but it is worsening and, in our opinion, is dangerous because it is both unpredictable and the acceleration hesitation does not respond to pressing on the gas pedal. Plus, at stop lights, it periodically starts "bucking". We are at our wits end and my wife is scared to drive the vehicle. It was purchased in 2009, has only 41,000 kilometers on it and we have looked after it very well. The dealership and head office need to address this issue with this make and model as according to your own website, we are not the only customers to have experienced this serious and dangerous defect, and others have made you aware of this complaint by posting details similar to our complaints.
