Cracked fuel pump 2nd time. Fuel pump was replaced under GM warranty recall 090226 and NHTSA campaign 09V419000. The replacement pump also cracked 5 months after install. Leading to potential fire.

The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G5. The contact stated the vehicle was taken in for a routine maintenance and was told the fuel pump was cracked and causing a leak. As a result, fuel fumes were emitted inside and around the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated there was a recall NHTSA campaign id number: 12V459000 (fuel system, gasoline: Delivery: Fuel pump). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not eligible for the recall since the VIN was not included and the vehicle was not register in the state specified in the notice. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who inspected the vehicle and advised that there was a crack on the return port at the fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired by the mechanic. The manufacturer was notified who stated that although there was a recall for the failure under NHTSA campaign id number: 12V459000 (fuel system, gasoline: Delivery: Fuel pump), her VIN was not included.
