I took my car to the dealer for fuel leaks and they replaced the recall items( fuel pump) on the fuel system. I drove home and filled it up to find gallons of gasoline pouring down my driveway. Dropped it off at the dealer after hours so the could enjoy the gas leak. Called them to learn that the tank is also cracked near the fill area. They didn't find this during the original fix? very luck not to have had a major fire and from research there are many people having the same issue with the gas tank being cracked when the fuel pump delivery recall is done. The tanks are cracked too. Should have been part of the recall.

Starting smelling gas. The gas smell was mild at first. Mostly only smelling it when the car was parked. Then the gas smell kept getting stronger. The smell of gas could be smelled as driving it. The gas could be seen eventually dripping out onto the ground. There was a recall on fuel pumps for this make and model and year, but not for my area. I believe all the makes and models should of been recalled.

Since purchasing this vehicle there has been a recurring occasional problem with the engine suddenly revving and the vehicle jumping forward when in the stopped position(stopped but in "drive"). when my foot is at the upper right edge of the brake pedal this occurs. My foot definitely has not been touching the gas pedal although the right side of the brake pedal is closest to the gas pedal. This has occurred multiple times in the last 6.5 years but not frequently enough for me to report it before now. I considered it an improvement to the 2006 Honda civic I owned for a year which did something similar but more frequently and in a more pronounced way. The recent recall of my Pontiac for an ignition switch problem has brought the issue of vehicle safety and manufacturer vigilance to the forefront of my mind.

The contact indicated that the entire fuel line system was replaced to remedy the defect. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 72,000.

Filled up the fuel tank and when I arrived home noticed a strong smell of fuel. Looked under car and noticed fuel leak coming from fuel tank area. The car was taken to the local GM dealer and they advised the fuel tank has a 5 inch crank on the top area where the fuel neck hose connects. This vehicle has a prior recall for fuel tank parts that can crack and leak fuel leading to the possibility of a fire. The fuel tanks should have been included in the recall since they are made of plastic as well and are cracking. I spoke to the serviceman at the dealership and he advised he has seen three cars with the same condition in the shop. Is the national highway safety traffic administration receiving the same complaint that I am writing about and are you doing anything to address this issue with GM? this car is driven by my daughter to attend college and it could have caught on fire....

For the past month or so, I could smell gasoline whenever I stopped and exited my car. Finally after someone else smelled it too, I saw a leak just to the right of my driver's side door (just in front of the rear tire). It was leaking quite quickly and had formed a puddle in less than a minute. If someone had walked by me and tossed a lit cigarette, or if I were sitting at a red light and the same thing happen...I hate to think what could've/would've happened. GM has refused to recall the car even though I've managed to find several situations exactly and/or similar to mine on sites such as G5club.net and carcomplaints.com - GM did pay for a diagnostic on the car and found it to be a rusted out fuel line. On the G5club.net site, I saw where a 2009 had the same problem a year or 2 ago.

Started to notice a little gas smell about middle of Jan of 2012 didn't think much of it at the time and continued to drive it and then smell got stronger as I continued to drive it and even others started to notice it and would let me know that did I know they smelled gas, even had some one from the library page to inform me that someone who had parked next to me smelled gas and they want to let me know as other thought car may blow up or catch on fire (someone even left a note on my windshield about it and how I was hurting the environment) this is something government needs to look into since they and I help GM from going under buy going with a GM product and not get a family deal and a Ford or Chrysler. GM need to step up on this as they say it's a warm weather state issue, well I guess in the mid West it never get warm and there are other complaints on this issue. It's up to GM to fix this and keep customer loyalties or have us move on to a Chrysler or Ford and never look back.

My car gradually began smelling like gasoline at the beginning of November. I thought it was the gas cap, replaced it, and it has not gone away and only become stronger smelling whether the car is in park or driving on the road. It also is hard to start after sitting for a few hours, it will not crank over on the 1st attempt anymore. I have researched on here, and found there was a recall and 1000S of others are having the same problem as me. However, because I am in Ohio and not part of the "recall" states, my VIN is not part of the recall and it is a major concern. I have called Pontiac and the best advice they gave me is to send it to a certified GM dealer. After reading posts on here, it seems that they are charging the consumer 500+ for a new fuel pump and that is ridiculous since it is a recall on the other cars with the specific vins. What exactly will it take for GM or Pontiac to step up and say hey we made a mistake on most of these models, not just the 69,000 we recalled?

The contact did some research on the internet regarding the fuel system and notice a NHTSA campaign 09V419000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump). The contact called the manufacturer regarding the recall and the manufacturer suggested the contact take the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer informed the contact they could not perform the recall repair because it was for specific states and Maryland was not included. The dealer informed the contact that the fuel system had a small leak, the module was cracked and needed to be replaced. The contact did not have the fuel module replaced. The contact stated the recall should not be state specific since it was a safety issue. The failure mileage was 90,000.

Serious safety issue here..on 1/18/2011 I got in my car went to the store. At this time I noticed a strong odor of gas inside my vehicle. Next day I started car and backed it out smelled stronger gas smell. Pulled car back in garage. Car was towed to GM dealer. GM dealer stated "nothing is wrong with the vehicle" paid $200 got car back still wreaks of strong gas smell upon starting (inside the vehicle). I have contacted the attorney general and GM. I am getting nowhere with getting this vehicle repair. Basically the two warranties aren't being used because the GM dealers don't want to wait on their money and other Pontiac G-5's have had the same problem (same year make and model) the fuel module and fuel pump are to be replaced free of charge I am getting conflicting statements on "my car not being on recall" and findings where there is a recall. I am considering giving the car back and requesting a full refund if they are not backing their warranty. I feel this car has severe safety issues and I cannot drive a vehicle that is a fire hazard/explosion risk. I was always told if you smell gas don't drive a vehicle. I'm starting to think when they sold the vehicle they knew there was safety issues as I was forced into gap insurance and an extended warranty. What good did it do to have all these protections if none of them are getting my car repaired. The first thing I did after smelling fuel was look up on recall information.. vehicles assembled in Mexico and Alabama were on recall GM stated "your car is not included" why I am having these issues with my vehicle.? the recall states the fuel module may crack and leak gas which may result in fire/explosion. This will be the third recall I purchased the vehicle new. First door locks, then steering problem, now fuel leak.

On 10/3/09, had fuel leak on 2007 Pontiac G5. Fuel pump module assembly was removed and replaced. On 12/8/09, same vehicle had a larger fuel leak at which time the fuel tank needed to be replaced.

I need this investigated please !!!!!!!I have a 2007 Pontiac G5 and have been having issues with the engine running erratically. The RPM will jump up while I'm driving at a constant speed. This has been going on for a few months. Two weeks ago I was stopped at a traffic light and it speed up and red lined and lurched into the intersection. Thank god everyone avoided each other. It was during rush hour !!! it happened again this morning and I was almost T-boned by a semi !!! I have had it checked and no one has found anything!! there was a mechanic that had it cut up some when he drove it but said it was not doing enough to diagnose the problem. There are no warning lights on and it is random doing it. We have tried putting it in the same situations to get it to do it so the mechanics can see it for themselves, but have had no luck !!!!! I am very concerned about this and want something done !!!!! if more of these cars are doing this someone is going to die !!!! it is extremely dangerous and needs investigated please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
