This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Pontiac dealer.
I have a 2005 G6 that was bought new- about a year ago I had a check engine light come on, so I called the dealer- by the time I actually brought the car in there were 3 different lights on now indicating 3 separate issues and the radio would go off when the car was turned off and not come on until I turned it on- I also noticed that everything would change from English to Metric occasionally and just commented, "how weird"
By the time I made it to the shop in a couple of days, only two lights were on, but the radio was still deciding if it wanted to be on or off. Dealer suggested I just replace the radio since it was under extended warranty- I commented to them that it was such a waste when I had a feeling it was either the computer or electrical problems- they said no, it was the fuel pump, since the light was on and that I should replace the radio, they indicated it might just be getting bad. I tried to repeat that I was fairly sure it was the computer or electrical problems, because everything worked fine, it was just annoying having trouble lights come on and have to wonder if there REALLY was something wrong or maybe the light would go out on it's own and there really was no problem- it was so annoying to try to explain that it was just the "dummy lights" as my Dad calls them.
So- they replaced the fuel pump and radio and told me they didn't know why all those things would go out at once and that my computer was fine since there was no code- still not sure if this was checked or not.

I HAVE HAD MY G6 SINCE 2009. IT IS A 2005. LOVED THE CAR WHEN I FIRST GOT IT AND SOME DAYS, STILL DO. HOWEVER, RECENTLY, MY BATTERY STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS AFTER ALMOST $700 WORTH OF WORK ON THE SUSPENSION.
HAD MY FIANCE REPLACE THE BATTERY TODAY WHILE I WAS AT WORK. CAR STARTS AND RUNS JUST FINE NOW BUT----- THE CD PLAYER IS STILL RUNNING EVEN AFTER I SHUT THE CAR OFF?! I AM AFRAID THIS WILL DRAIN THIS NEW BATTERY TOO!!! TRIED LOOKING FOR A FUSE TO PULL BUT CAN'T FIND ONE?!
I AM READY TO TEAR THE WHOLE STEREO/RADIO (STOCK) OUT OF THE CAR!! MIND YOU, ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO, ALL THE SOUND IN THE FRONT SPEAKERS QUIT WORKING OUT OF NOWHERE!?
SO NOW NOT ONLY AM I WITHOUT WORKING FRONT SPEAKERS-- I HAVE NO RADIO OR CD PLAYER. BEING THAT IT IS ONLY PARTIALLY FUNCTIONING, I CAN'T EVEN ADJUST THE VOLUME SO IT IS STUCK ON THE SAME VOLUME CONTINUOUSLY!
ANY SUGGESTIONS? I CAN LIVE WITHOUT THE RADIO/CD PLAYER (I THINK) BUT WOULD LIKE TO RETRIEVE MY CD'S OUT OF IT AND SAVE MY BATTERY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!
