Backing out of my driveway and noticed my power steering went dead! it has happened a couple of times asked how much it would cost , they tell me about 800.00 dollars:( is this a recall on this car? I found out online a bunch of other complaints about the same type of car, this has to be a defect, i was also told that the 2007 model G6 V6 steering has changed to a hydraulic system not a electric system, wonder if that is why they changed it to the regular hydraulic? because of the complaints on the electric system!! no wonder why they are not making them anymore, lets get this fixed GM !!!!!! it is obviously a RECALL!!!!!

I have a 2005 pontiac G6. I was dropping my son off at school one morning and when I went to turn onto the main road, my steering wheel locked up!!! I had no control over my car or where it went! I could not turn the wheel at all!!!! I was so scared!!!! Luckily, I was able to cruise over to the side without no one hitting me!!! I had to wait on the toe truck to get there for two hours!!! I was shocked to find out it was my power steering pump! I never heard any whining like normal cars and never gave me any signs on the wheel. I soon found that the pump is electrical!!! In my reseach and over $600 later!!!
I found all these people that have the same problem, all the other models that have recalls (Its the same electrical pump) and this has been under investigation for how long now!!!! I think everyone should file their complaints with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration like I did. This recall should be pushed forward before someone gets hurt or killed! AND our economy is not good now!! Consumers can't afford this!!!

My wife was driving and when she got home she mentioned that the steering pulled to the left and jerked the steering wheel out of her hand when she started making the turn. It was lucky that there was no other traffic. I tested it out and sure enough if you just slightly turned left it wanted to go full turn, but when you turned right it was difficult. I checked all the normal stuff like low tires, bent tyrods or damage and could find nothing. When I got back in to test it again it worked fine, lasted about a week and then it started to do it again and I could reset it by stopping and turning off the car and then starting it again and it was fine for about 15 miles and then it did it again but this time the power steering went out completely and I had to drive it about 50 miles with brute force to get it home. Took it to the dealer and they said it was the steering column that had to be replaced that it was a complete unit. Cost was over $800, and when I had asked them about this problem they knew nothing about it previously, but now I am seeing all these other reports. I guess someone has to get hurt or killed before they take it serious.

Backing out of a parking spot and lost all steering, had to muscle my way to a repair shop at 1 pm. repair shop couldn't help me at that moment. I was desperate for answers as I had to drive to Atlantic City the very next morning (5 hr. drive, alone) When I started the car it acted like nothing had happened. Hoping it does not happen during my travels for work and leave me stranded.
