The problem started shortly after we acquired the car. It was a used car and had a limited warranty, Brakes and that were only covered till the 40000 Km mark. I did not extend the original warranty, and that was a big mistake in retrospect.. Anyway to get back to the problem, the left front tire continually loses air at an unpredictable rate. Most of the times its slow, but sometimes quickly. The worst part is no one knows why. We have replaced the tire, the rim(rotated the tire and rim from back to front, and the front still loses air. The other night my wide was coming home from work, 400 AM, had just pulled onto the highway, everything was fine, she got up to cruise speed, 70 mph or so, suddenly the car started to shake, then the tire shredded itself. My wife is a good driver, she was able to regain control of the car, which was bouncing all over the road.
I think the tire lost its bead after it went through one of these air loss episodes. This is the 4th tire we have lost in similar fashion. I check the tire all the time, and often have to air up the tire on the front left.
I will be glad to get rid of this car, going to do it as soon as the money is there. Good bye Pontiac wouldn't buy another one even if I could
