Over the last three years, while the vehicle has been under warranty had it into the dealership every 3-4 months with squeaky brakes, they have machine the rotors, replaced the rotors, replaced the pads you name it they have done it all. The problem has never been solved.. I have less then six months left on the lease - I will drive it as it is.. Not my issue!

The back brakes on my G6 started squeaking mere months after I purchased the vehicle I now refer to as the 'crap box.' I brought it to the dealer and was initially told that there was nothing wrong with the brakes. After returning it several more times I was told each time that there was nothing wrong and that brake squeaking is perfectly normal. Not on something brand new it isn't! Finally I was told that the brakes were 'long life brakes' (I was informed long life means 60,000km) and that because they were made of harder material than normal, squeaking will occur. At $35,000 km I replaced the back brakes, out of my own pocket, because they had completely worn out. So much for 'long life' but that's another issue.

I explained about the brakes squeaking and was advised that the Pontiac G6 went with a ceramic/metal brake and there is no way to fix the squeaking. They stated you can slam on your brakes a few times and this will temporally quiet them but the squeak will come back. Basically they said to just keep the brakes until they wear out and then buy different ones for the car.

I got my routine oil change done on 11/12/12 along with replacing a filter that filtered the air coming into the cab. Also came with a car wash. The moment I pulled out my breaks made a noise, never doing so before I drove around the parking lot. Did not make the noise again so I left thinking it must have been from the recent car wash and recent raining causing them to squeak. The next day the noise came back only this time was a lot worse! Sounded like metal to metal now when in low speed coming to a stop.
