When making turns there is a loud pop sound coming from the steering column. Also I am having issues with my brake lights coming on while the brake is not compressed and going off while the brake is compressed. It is a huge safety issue. I have almost been rear-ended multiple times due to the fact that the driver behind me does not know I am slowing down.

Brake lights worked intermittently. Sometimes when accelerating, the brake lights stay on and when actually braking, the brake lights go off. Sometimes the brake lights just permanently stay on. When the brake lights engage intermittently or permanently, the cruise control disengages. Had the brake pedal switch replaced and re-calibrated on numerous dates at shaheen GM in mount pleasant, mi. November of 2012, returned the vehicle to lunghamer GMC dealership where the car was purchased and had the entire brake sensor system replaced and re-calibrated. One month after the repair, the brake lights began working intermittently again. Took the vehicle to dagwood's in mount pleasant, mi where I was told that the problem was unfixable. Dagwood's claimed that they could replace the switch and re-calibrate again, but that there was no guarantee that the problem would not resume immediately after pulling it off the lot. This is a constant problem, in which I have been pulled over for a couple of times. However, it is not a matter of a simple "fix-it" ticket since there seems to be no possible repair. It is also very dangerous to be driving when the brake lights are not working properly. I have nearly been rear-ended on numerous occasions when I have been braking and the car behind me cannot tell because the brake lights do not go on. I have documentation of all of the times that I have brought the vehicle to the dealership in attempts to remedy this situation.

While driving down the road I came to a stop when traffic ahead of me began to slow down. I was at a dead stop when a car came sliding past me in the gravel to the right of me. When we got to the stop sign the driver of that vehicle informed me that my brake lights were inoperative. I found this hard to believe considering I had just purchased the vehicle a month prior. About a week later I had a car honk at me and yell over to me that I had no brake lights when coming to a stop. When you start the car, you can walk around the back of the car and see that the brake lights are on, with nobody even in the car. I have followed my girlfriend while she was driving the car and they function the exact opposite way that they should, the brake lights are on the whole time you are driving and when coming to a stop the lights go out completely and do not return on until you begin accelerating again. I have had the brake pedal position sensor replaced, calibrated and it did cure the problem for a month or so, then the problem returned. Next I had the "fix" for the BCM connector performed, the dielectric grease did nothing. So now the problem remains, everyday people ride right on my bumper and I fear that an accident can come of this, and GM needs to find a fix for this and recall these vehicles asap.

I was driving my 2007 G6 when someone pulled up beside me and honked their horn to get my attention. The man informed me that my brake lights were on while I was driving but turned off when I went to brake for the red light. I took my car to be fixed at a shop near my home, he replaced the sensor in the brake pedal. When I left his shop it worked perfectly fine. Working fine only last about 8 months when I noticed the reflection of my brake lights in traffic signs when I wasn't pushing on the brake I realized I once again was having the same issue. Since I have left that first shop in 2010, I have taken my G6 to 2 different shops within the last 3 years paying upwards of $500 to get the same issue resolved each time. The last time I took my car to the GMC dealership (2 weeks ago); they informed me that I have been there in June of 2011, September of 2012 and now June of 2013. The head technician told me he "has no idea what the issue is". he unplugged everything and plugged it all back in and they worked fine but the issue is obviously not resolved.

My 2007 Pontiac G6 has repeating brake light illuminating issues.(reverse of normal functioning). For almost two years (2011) the vehicles brake lights illuminate while the brake is not applied. The brake lights are on/illuminated while driving at all speeds and actually stop illuminating when the brake is applied. This has been happening consistently in warm and cold weather, rainy and dry weather. I have taken the vehicle to the local GM dealership here in columbus oh and had the issue repaired costing $100 which solved the problem for approximately 9-12 months (2012). The issue recurred after the repair was no longer covered under the dealerships repair warranty of 12 months or 12,000 miles. In the last 6 months (Jan - June 2013) in addition, I have experienced malfunctions with my cruise control, as well as unable to get the car to move from park into any other gear for as much as up to 30 mins, leaving me stuck and stranded, also when applying my foot to the brake pedal it feels like there's no padding or like there's air in the line, as well as a vibration. I am extremely concerned for my family's safety as well as the safety of other drivers as I could be very easily be rear ended at any given moment while driving on the road. I have experienced vehicles running up closely behind me as there was no indication I was slowing. Not only have I experienced this problem, but a handful of times I have also seen other 2007 G6 on local roadways with illuminating brake lights during acceleration. Again I am extremely concerned and hope that with your help GM will recognize and expedite this issue as it is a very serious and urgent matter and attempt to provide me as a owner the steps to ensure safety. Thank you

I was pulled over by good samaritans to let me know my brake lights were on while driving but completely off when in use. After research on internet this is highly common in these cars. I found a fix online until I was pulled over again by good samaritans. I am 7 months pregnant with two small children in this vehicle I have no way to know if they are working or not unless my father does a brake check some days they work some days they don't. this to me is highly dangerous for consumers that don't realize this is a common problem in this vehicle. I called my dealership but they are not quite sure what is wrong with it. Is it going to take a pregnant women to get rear ended or for someone to die before this brake light issue is resolved. This is scary and dangerous.

My brake lights come on with out me even touching the brake peddle. I have replaced the brake light switch 4 times already. With one of them being today. On my way home tonight the brake lights came back on. After doing some research it seems like I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm afraid that this is going to cause an accident. When I step on the brake peddle the lights go out. So if I had to stop quick the car behind me might not know that I'm stopping and hit me. Is there a recall on this issue?

Driving on thehighway with the cruise on. The cruise control shut off and brake lights were illuminated withouth depressing the brake pedal. When the brake pedal was engaged the brake lights turned off. I have replaced the brake light switrch, fuses, added dieelectric grease to the nodes, removed the battery to reset the computer system. The problem will be fixed temporarily and then start again. This is incredibly unsafe. Please extend the recall to models newer than 2005. This is obviously a major issue that needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt. GM need to fix this issue with their vehicles.

One day, without any incident, the brake lights started acting up. When not applying brake, brake lights shine. When I hit the brake, the brake lights turn off. I have had the brake switch replaced and have had dielectric grease put on conductors. The problem went away for a few months and now is back to acting up. I have read many other posts and blogs about said problem and I cannot believe that GM and the NHTSA have not done something for models newer than the 2005 G6. Someone is going to get killed because of this faulty system. I want these problems fixed before someone gets seriously hurt because of the company's negligence.

I was driving down the highway with my cruise control on when it randomly turned off. The light was still on that shows that cruise control is ready to be on but it would not come back on and has been on and off since. The cruise control no longer works. My brake lights also have been acting up. While I drive without applying pressure to the brakes, the brake lights are on, but when I go to stop, they turn off.

Approximately 4 months ago my traction control light would come on randomly. After car would be shut off the warning light would go away after I re-started the vehicle. Did not think to much of it due to it being winter and thought the road conditions were causing it. Since the weather has cleared I noticed when driving on the interstate with my cruise on all of a sudden my cruise would shut off and could not get it to go back on, and again the service traction light came on until I shut off my car. Could not use my cruise at all. It wasn't till recently that someone on the road flagged me down and said that when I am driving the brake lights were on and when I brake they went out. Not good. Talked with the dealership and they said it was the brake light switch. Had that replaced but did not even fix the problem for a day. Next day the entire process started over and I am still have problems with the brakes on when I am depressing the gas and going out when I hit the brakes. Did some research and have found my other people have this same problem. I feel this should be a recall!!!! asap this is an accident waiting to happen. I also read that the BCM has fixed this problem for some but also need to be re calibrated after the part it replaced. I am going to try this and see what happens, don't really like driving my car in this condition. I hope that with all the complaints I have read on this something will be done before the accidents start happening.

My brake lights are not working properly. The brake lights would be on when I didn't use my brakes and when I used the brakes the brake lights went off. Earlier today I was very close to having someone hit me in the back end because of this. I researched this problem out and discovered that many people are having this same problem. It needs to be fixed or someone is going to get seriously hurt.

Had car parked and noticed my brake lights were on. Pressed brake pedal and depressed it and the lights went off only to come back on. Affects my third brake light as well. Happens in the daytime as well as night. Sporadic. Was told my brake lights are on when in motion and turn off when stopped. Worried I might get in an accident or get pulled over.
