Issue. Fuel found to be leaking at top of gas tank from fuel pump fuel outlet elbow fitting on fuel pump. Leak was such that a strong gas odor could be sensed after car was driven and sitting outside. It was determined that gas was sitting on top of the gas tank. This area is near the rear exhaust pipes. While driving through a tunnel which comes up to a sharp bend a little after exiting at about 45 miles per hour I felt like I was not in control of my car as it felt as if it was locking up and moving in its own direction. So I hit the brakes (just got brakes done) to slow down a bit but it didn't seem to brake quick enough for me to feel safe. So before coming to the bend there is another exit to go into town that I took to drive at a slower speed. While taking that way home I had lights to stop at and as I accelerate it was hesitant at times to pick up. Lastly every time I start up the car there is a ticking noise that is consistent which I still don't know what it is from. The brakes may be an issue with who did my brakes but the power steering is an issue and when I waited until today to check the fluid I could not locate so I went online to find out where it was and come to find out I may have an electrical one and found numerous reports regarding power steering issues. My car does not feel safe to me and it is now my only transportation to work.

A couple of times this past year after my vehicle hit 75K miles, my steering has locked up causing me to have to pull on the wheel very hard just to make the turn which a bit of a concern. Thankfully no accident resulting from this. I have not had this problem in the last couple of months. However I have also had an issue with the brake lights. A friend who was following me advised that my brake lights were turning on even when I wasn't braking. Additionally, in July of 2013 (my vehicle was at about 70K miles) we began smelling gasoline coming from the vehicle. We took it to get the car repaired and the mechanic identified that my fuel pump was leaking gasoline and had to be completely replaced which cost about $1000. My check engine light has now come on again and I am taking it this week to get it inspected. The car jerks when moving it from park into gear, and when driving the timing seems to be off when accelerating.

Noticed gasoline smell behind the car and found gas leaking from under the gas tank. This is interesting because I took the car to local GM dealership this weekend on 2/22/14 for service and they indicated that they had found a shorted fuel tank pressure sensor. How is it that they didn't noticed the gas leaking. In reviewing other complaints with the G6, this seems to be a very common issue with this car where there is a plastic line on the fuel pump which develops the leak. Not sure how long this car has been leaking gasoline and we had not noticed it before.

This is another complaint about the defective fuel pump module on my 2007 Pontiac G6 whit 50180 miles. Dealer diagnosed problem. Recall needs to be expanded to cover this model also. Numerous GM vehicles with same problem with same part have been recalled. Very dangerous. Can not park car were there is an open flame (water heater, home heater). A lot of gasoline fumes, not good for people with respiratory problems. Some one please help. GM needs to do the right thing.

I have been notified during my most recent oil change that there is a fuel leak on my 2007 Pontiac G6. The mechanic stated he has seen several GM vehicles including other G6's with this same issue this summer. The 2007 Pontiac G5 was recently recalled due to this exact same issue. GM put me and my family in danger by not including the G6 in their recall. The fuel pump on this vehicle needs to be recalled before people start getting killed in fires caused by this faulty fuel pump. The heat in the state I live in (Arizona) causes cracks to form in the plastic on the fuel pump causing a fuel leak. This is the exact same problem addressed in GM's recall campaign number 12190 which is an expansion of recall 09V-419 (NHTSA campaign id number: 12V459000). 5 other 2007 GM models have been recalled for this fire hazard. It is time that the recall is once again expanded to include all GM models with this fuel pump problem. This is an extremely dangerous situation because of the fuel leaks close proximity to extremely hot exhaust parts. It is only a matter of time before these fuel pumps start catching fire and killing innocent people who don't know there is a fuel leak. Please investigate this problem and force GM to stop dragging their feet in this matter before they kill innocent people.

I have a 2007 Pontiac G6. It has the same fuel problem that the 2007 G5 has, there is a hairline crack in the elbow on the fuel pump & is leaking gas. I don't understand why there is not a recall on this vehicle neither. I need someone to get in contact with me. I am paying out of pocket to have this problem fixed when it should be the manufactures issue. I have read online & there have been several issues with the same vehicle as mine which resulted in the vehicle catching on fire. Something needs to be done about this. I live in Texas & the temperature here gets very hot, so that doesn't help that I have a gas leak on my vehicle.

A hairline crack developed in the plastic elbow connecting the integral fuel pump/gas tank fuel lines to the engine. This elbow connects a fuel line which is pressurized both with the vehicle operating (about 60 psi) and after the car has been turned off as the fuel system bleeds this operating pressure. The pressure forcibly ejects highly flammable gasoline liquid and vapor into the area immediately above extremely hot exhaust pipes. When garaged, these vapors completely fill the structure which houses a gas water heater and furnace with running Pilot lights. No vehicle annunciation (e.g., check engine light), performance degradation (e.g., hard starts), or visible indicators alert the owner to this potentially catastrophic condition. The fuel smell is initially mistaken for normal exhaust fumes after parked until the crack enlarges causing the gas smell to become intolerable. The potential exists for death and destruction of both the vehicle and garage and home in which it is kept because of the insidious nature of this problem.

My passenger side low beams were burning out, I took my vehicle to the dealer in Dec (2010), one year later, it's back. I noticed the connection was completely shorted and burnt. Prob won't last much longer. This past Aug (2011) my fuel pump started leaking fuel, it was the assembly which had a hairline fracture which was unrepairable, had to replace the complete assembly for $350. For the last couple years my steering does a popping sound and feel when I make slow sharp turns (as in U-turns). The dealer temporary fixed it once, but it returned before I could even forget about it. Their solution was greasing the steering joint. My ac/heating fan was making a ticking sound while it was on a couple years back (around Nov 2009), the dealer fixed the ticking but it returned last year. Though it's not as loud or annoying as before I've learned to tune it out, not too fun for my passengers though.

My 2007 Pontiac G6 is leaking fuel from top side of fuel tank. I presume that the fuel line or pump is leaking because the vehicle does not start on first ignition cycle. The second cycle of the ignition key builds enough fuel pressure to assure a normal start. Fuel residue can be seen all around bottom of fuel tank and on the exhaust pipe.

I have had my Pontiac 2007 G6 GT for 2 years & have been very happy with it. Just 2 days ago I started smelling gasoline fumes, but couldn't see any sign of a leak so I took it to my Goodyear mechanic & they found a gas leak which would have me replace my whole fuel pump. This problem I guess is common with this type car. My mechanic said he just replaced 2 fuel pumps same model a week ago. I called the dealership to get a estimate on how much & they said that it was still under warranty up to 170,000 miles I have only 80,000. So I was very happy. Still love my car.

On my 2007 Pontiac G6, I had noticed a strong smell of gas during and after operation. This smell would fill the car and my garage when parked. After doing some reading I found that this is common problem with Pontiac G6. A plastic line attached to the fuel sending unit/ pump cracks or breaks and leaks fuel ontop of the gas tank and the exhaust lines at the rear of the vehicle. This is a inhalation hazard and fire hazard to any one using the vehicle. When I lowered the gas tank on my car the line was completely broken. The only way to fix this is to replace the entire fuel pump assembly at $281.
