It's been doing this for a while, I don't remember the exact date, but it's been doing it for a long time. There are so many things wrong with this car, I jut don't have the money to fix them all and GM won't pay to fix any of them.

I needed SEVEN visits to the dealership for them to finally fix the issue. They kept bleeding the system and doing low cost garbage to avoid fixing the issue.
A side effect to this low speed AWFULLY LOUD noise in the power steering is in cold weather on start up the power steering pump has a SUPER loud whine until it warms up which is about 4 or 5 mins. Pretty ridiculous, but what made me the most annoyed wasn't that there is an issue, but that the dealerships seem to be professional frustraters hoping you will just go away.
The irony to this issue is my old car was a 1991 Chevy Corsica, which has the EXACT same issue 1 year after I bought it (and until the day I got rid of it)... and the dealership did the same thing then. I love how now only did GM not fix a known issue over the course of 16 years, but they still don't suck it up and fix the problem when told.
I love my car and know that any make can have an issue, but I will NEVER buy another GM due to how the dealerships handled this problem (and others).

Steering makes a loud shuddering grinding sound when turning at slow speed.

This vehicle should be recalled for steering problems just like all the others 2006-2007 were. It's obvious it is a manufacturing problem not to mention a safety problem as well.
