Manu-Matic transmission. When car is in "D" it won't go. Using Manual transmission (not very good for my 18 yr old son who has never driven a stick-shift before) for now. He's supposed to be going off to college & I'm thinking of trading card with him now. This sucks! Not happy & from the complaints I'm reading, this is pretty common. Time for a RECALL!!!

Transmission locked up while I was braking to make a turn, coming down a hill in the snow which made my car go into a uncontrollable slide. I slid into a phone pole. Luckily I was only doing about 15 mph otherwise my daughter and I could have gotten seriously hurt..
I can't believe their was no warning signs or anything. One minute I had a good running car and the next minute the transmission locked up,
Of course I replaced just about everything in the front end before I figured out it was the transmission. Even the GM mechanic was surprised.
I bought this car used 2 years ago and have had nothing but problems the entire time. I have always been a GM man after this car I'll probably never buy another.

Driving down the interstate 70mph, get to my exit and stop. When I hit the gas...the car won't move....thought I had hit it into neutral but that wasn't the case. Have a manual paddle with this automatic trans shifter...paddle it and will go but no DRIVE function until you are up to speed and shift it back over. It is in shop...I have no idea what is wrong?

It's a manu-matic, won't go into first gear in "D", it will allow you to drive in paddle mode- although paddle mode does not seem healthy (rpm surges when shifting sometimes). After achieving third gear speeds with the paddle, you can use "D" (automatic) again, but the auto is only good in third and fourth. Once you slow to second (or first) gear speeds, the auto-transmission will not re-engage. You must switch back to paddle to move.

Major transmission failures at 98998 miles blew a hole out the side which leaked oil on exhaust which started a FIRE.... If I hadn't been a quick thinker and put it out I would of lost my car. luck had it the dealer a chevy dealer in st louis Bommorito called in a GM rep inwhich they fixed it with a new yes new transmission

I have a 2007 pontiac G6 GTP; I brought my car in 2007; never had any issues until now 2012; first issue, my transmission went out while I was driving (no warnings) after taking it to a transmission shop I realized this car was put on the market as a trail car (Pontiac was using it as a trail) so when I had to have the transmission replaced, it cost more than average because of the shifting gears (auto/man). After getting the transmission replaced a couple of weeks later the brake lights wouldn't go off. Although I brought the part on my own, GM still found a way to put there hands in my pocket again, the switch had a special program that only GM owns. I did a lot of research behind this part to find out the brake light switch which is located until the break pedal is a defective switch. GM is fully aware but they still wont recall this part. I contacted GM myself and the only thing they could advise was to get the repair work done and they would track the progress. Didnt offen to cover the repair fees. Thanks GM, good looking out. SMH

I got the Pontiac G6 in March 2012 after having my other new car totalled by a collage student. No issues until shortly after getting my routine oil change on 11/11/12. Not sure if it had anything to with the car problems that followed but shortly after getting oil changed the problems began.
The moment I pulled out from having the oil changed, a filter replaced and having my car washed there as well my brakes made a low squeak. I drove around in the parking lot to hear it again. I did not make the same noise. So I left thinking it was related to the car wash. No biggy right? So the next day the noise started again only sounding like metal to metal now???? Never hearing it before it worried me. It only happened when stopping at a low speed. Again I related it to the weather. Lately it had been raining pretty bad and I had been on a dirt road. Noise would come and go nothing alarming until the evening after work on Tuesday 11/20/12. Came to stop sign after exiting the freeway and the car would not move when giving it gas, engine just reeved up and acted as if it were in N. I went from standard drive mode in automatic into "slap stick" mode/CVT manual mode. It did fine but still alarming. Due to Thanksgiving being the next day all was going to be closed. Got an appt to take into mechanic for that next Monday 11/26/12. On Sunday 11/25/12 the night before was to be at the shop it would not drive at all now!!!! Will still go into reverse and 3rd gear only after being on an incline to get me into 3rd then to only kick itself back down to 2nd then 1st after going back up an incline again. Has been a complete pain in the ass!!! I'm a single hard working mother of 2 young girls 9 and 12. Barely make enough to afford rent and bills let alone an unexpected car issue that makes no sense at all. Its a fairly new car with very low miles for being a 2007. I have no idea if the noise that came from the brakes has anything to do with the possible transmission problems???? or no???? I pray that this problem wont be too expensive!!! Any in put would be appreciated

Picture this - Purchase a brand new car - drive it around town for the first three days only -- On the fourth day 1,000 kms - you are following your car in your other car as it is being towed to the dealership as there is no drive!!! Transmission module went... Got to love it..

While driving my 10 month old car with only 9800 miles on it through the mountains of West Virginia where there is no cell phone reception I hear a loud noise and the car starts chugging. I immediately pulled over and discovered pink fluid pouring out of my car. It turns out the transmission has a baseball sized hole in it caused by something within the motor. I would love to tell the world what exactly happened, however, my car was towed to the nearest dealer, while I had to pay a cab driver $80 to get a rental car to drive the 260 miles needed to get home. My car has been at said dealer for over a week and they have yet to even receive the transmission in order to replace it. My advice to anyone who cares...do not buy this car. And forget General Motors returning your phone calls. What a joke! I buy American made cars for a reason. I want to keep Americans working but the customer service I have received is a bit to be desired. This is my first and last Pontiac I will ever buy.
