About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. While driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the rear brakes locked and the vehicle slid. The traction control indicator was illuminated for several days prior to the failure. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where a diagnostic was being performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. While driving at any speed, the brake lights remained illuminated regardless if the brake pedal was depressed or not. In addition, the traction light illuminated. The failures occurred continuously. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 14V252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). The approximate failure mileage was 76,000. Updated 08/30/16 the consumer stated the brake either illuminate all the time, or they do not illuminate at all. The electrical system would go haywire. The seat belt alarm sounded even when it was un-buckled, the traction control light illuminated and so did other random lights. Updated 10/26/16.

The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. The contact noticed an abnormal fuel odor coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that either the fuel tank was fractured or there was a fuel pump leak. The contact also stated that the check engine light and traction control warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The service electronic speed control (ESC) and traction control light illuminates frequently. At low speed something happens that causes steering to be difficult. We have had the vehicle in for a recent recall that was suppose to fix this problem. The problem persists. The dealer wants approximately $350 to replace the electronic steering control modular. My research indicates that this item is a recall item but the dealer disagrees.
