i don't know how to explain the noise. the best way i can explain it is like a rough rubbing scrubbing noise. it only happens when i turn my wheel to the right but never the left. it used to sound like rubber rubbing together but now its like metal on metal......

Turning the steering wheel left or right of center resulted in a noise, sort of a 'whining sound'. This 2009 Pontiac G6 was taken to the dealer 4 times to have this issue resolved. The steering column was totally replaced but the problem still exists.
Has anyone out there found a solution?

everytime we turn it makes a rubbing sound and the tires are not wore down anywhere. it doesn't feel like its the tire. it feels like its coming from axle near the tire. I reported it to the dealership and they looked at it and said it was fine. had the vehicle since January 2011 and the noise never stopped.

Only had the car one week, when I started noticing whenever I make a turn, the power steering starts making a really funny noise. It still should be under mfg warranty, but I have not had vehicle looked at, but after seeing the complaints tonight, I will DEFINITELY GET IT LOOKED AT ASAP!!!

When turning left or right their is a noise that seems to come from the steering column in the dash or the linkage area. It is hard to tell. Hard to describe. It is like a rubbing noise, but almost grinding. Seems to vary on the weather and when warm it seems worse. When I first complained at the dealer they said there was nothing wrong and all G6's did that. Mentioned it to another dealer, while under warranty, and they said nothing could be done. Back then it was sporadic on when it would do it. It got worse through the years and is now driving me nuts. Anyone else have this?
