First the power steering would just lock up at random times - driving 70 down the highway, 35 on a city street or sitting idle. I could hear it "click" and then just be gone. At first, I could restart the car and it would be OK ... until the next episode. At that point, it would also start to shimmy & jerk violently as I idled (as was reported previously) ... but then, eventually, it was just gone completely.
Honestly, it's better now that it's gone because I don't have to wonder when it will go out. It SUCKS, don't get me wrong but having it all the way gone beats 1/2 working & 1/2 not. The inconsistency was annoying. Driving a car with no power steering is ridiculous - it's a 2010, for crying out loud. They have not yet issued a steering recall for the 2010 G6. Until a recall is issued, I'll just have to drive it with no power steering because I can't afford to have it fixed. GM should do something about this! I'm off to the NHTSA site to officially file a complaint there, as they issue the recalls, not GM. I urge all of you to do the same, at the following website.
