GTO 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

The tire rub should be fixed by GM. People could die from this. So fix now or risk pay-offs. That's what your going to do anyways..

GTO 5.7L V8

  • Manual transmission
  • 29,000 miles

Over time, the front tires started throwing cords - when I turned the wheel full right, I noticed the tread had completely separated from the sidewall. When I pulled the wheel, I saw the rub marks on the struts - the tires were rubbing against the struts! By the sheer grace of god I didn't have a blow-out. I looked at the other wheel and found it to be in worse shape! This car was not driven hard on a regular basis, it was never autocrossed... and after going to a few GTO message boards I found out this was NOT an isolated incident. If anyone is considering one of these, inspect your struts and inner front tires VERY carefully!
