Up until a month ago, the misread was tolerable. Gauge read empty with a couple gallons still to go- I could live with that. A month ago the car, with the gauge reading a solid eighth, which up til that time would have translated to a quarter tank or so, ran out of gas AT THE TOP OF THE CORONADO BRIDGE (el. 200') DURING commute HOUR requiring a push down by H/way patrol, then a tow home by AAA. Never imagined it was out of gas. But is was, and afterwards the gauge read back to where it was before, until last week, when same thing happened, fortunately on a level, quite street.
It's either gauge or tank unit. I'll troubleshoot it myself.
