Grand Am 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,000 miles
My 2001 ponitac Grand Am SE1 was involved in an accident where I was making a left turn as was a vehicle approaching in the opposite direction. I entered the intersection at less than 10 mph and the vehicle from the other direction visually estimated to be travelling at 35 mph moved from the dedicated turn lane out into the intersection where we collided. The front end of the 1989 Cadillac el dorado struck the rear passenger side door and rear wheel. As a result spun the rear end of my vehicle approx. 90 degrees, pivoting off of the front wheels. The airbags deployed upon impact. The driver of the Cadillac applied his brakes and left approx 16 feet of skid marks prior to impact. Given this information and the low speeds of both vehicles the airbags should not have deployed.
