2003 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cylinder. Started hearing a clicking noise, like the blinker is on. Now it makes the noise all the time while the car is running. This is very annoying and can make you think you left your blinker on. I replaced the hazard switch and it didn't stop it. Someone said it may be the multifunction switch. I took it to the dealer and was told that no recall was on that specific part.

The ticker sound that is usually associated with the flashers or turn signal continues incessantly when neither function is activated. Sound comes from behind hazard button, but mechanics have advised replacing the multifunction switch in the steering column. They have warned that the situation will worsen and perhaps cause brake light problems if not corrected.

Multifunction switch makes a clicking noise even when I am not using the turn signals. At first, if I wiggled or tapped on the switch, the clicking would stop, but now it just clicks incessantly. It is extremely annoying. Yesterday while driving down the freeway I noticed a small stream of smoke coming from my steering wheel. I immediately drove it to a Pontiac deal and they advised it shouldn't catch fire that it would blow a fuse before it got too hot. They advise it would cost over 300 to fix. This is frustrating because it's been recalled on several earlier models.

A clicking noise that sounds like the hazard lights are on when they are not. Was told at first it was the hazard switch, however, after being replaced this did not fix the problem. Have now determined it is the multi-function switch and it costs over $300 to fix. Have heard many other Grand Am owners complain about this problem.

My 2003 Pontiac Grand Am has had this clicking noise, coming from under the dash for about a year now. It sounds like the sound the turn signal would make, but a little faster. And it comes and goes and lasts for different durations of time. I notice when the turn signal is on, then the noise goes away. Also, when I slightly hold the hazard button in, without actually turning it on, the noise also stops, but then my turn signals won't work. I took it to the mechanic and he stated that it might be the hazard switch. However, with the new switch in place, the problem and annoying sound continued!

My 2003 Pontiac has a clicking in the dash underneath the hazard switch. When I turn on turn signal the clicking goes in rhythm with the signals but when I turn the signals off it continues to click, sometimes fast sometimes slow. This is very annoying and I am afraid there may be a short that may cause a fire. I have checked the internet and come to find that many Pontiac owners are experiencing the same problem. They have told Pontiac about this problem and they just ignore the complaints. I feel there should be a recall on this problem with all the complaints of this matter. This problem seems to be occurring in many Pontiac's ranging from 1995 to 2004. I have a 2003 Grand Am GT. I hope that you have received many complaints for this problem because through my investigating this problem I have found so many with the same problem. Pontiac has to fix this problem before someone's vehicle catches on fire and burns a house down with an attached garage. Please look into this matter and let me know what is going on.

Fast clicking sound(sounds like the blinker is going but it is not) very irritating and I have read online that a lot of people have this problem and Pontiac will not recall it. And it costs over 400 dollars to fix.

Multi-function switch - Pontiac Grand Am GT 2003. I have spoken with many many people who experience the same problem with their GM vehicle. Malfunction in switch causes a ticking noise as though the hazard lights were on although they are not. Noise is almost constant. Hazard switch replaced and did not fix problem. Everyone I have talked to has said that replacing the multi-function switch corrects the problem. If so many are malfunctioning, why isn't there a recall to fix them?

I am having the same turn signal issue( hazard switch) in my 2003 Grand Am that GM issued a recall on for the 2000, 2001 models. Why is the 2003 excluded from this recall"?"

Car makes a randomly clicks like the turn signal is on, but at uneven intervals. When the turn signal is used, the clicking becomes consistent. Turn signal lights do not appear to be activating when random clicking noise is made. Started very infrequently, but has now increased to a near continual levels. Appears to be similar to recall: 03V327000.
- Charleston, SC, USA
The caller had to have the hazard warning light switch replaced. The caller said a blinking sound came from the dashboard but the lights were not on. Dealer replaced the switch at caller's expense. There was a recall 03V3270000 on other years but not on this year. Manufacturer said this vehicle was not included in the recall.

Turn signal switch activates all by itself, at will, at any time. Switch is combo for hazard and turn signal. (same switch). Circuit opens and closes randomly.
