Grand Prix SE 3.1L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 143,000 miles

I was traveling back from work on my way home which is a 45 miles stretch. first I had noticed my high beams would flicker which I just shrugged off. well Just lastnight on my way home, the locks unlocked while the car was in motion, also the tachmeter and speedometer would shoot up up without the engine revving then the car would after a bit just shut down. Today the 18th of May I took a trip to work in the morning and the car was fine, On the way back home was fine until I pulled into a store parking lot and went to park it. I went to roll up my wndows which are electric windows, and both speedometer and tachometer both raised up and went back down without me touching the accelerator. zfzortunately the car did not shut down this time. However the locks did do its thing again.

Okay- this is it...I have had it with this car every time I turn around something else is messing up! Last month it just died while I was in line to pay my electric bill. It had done this before and the man (used to be a mechanic/his own shop/now disabled)-drove to me and turns out it was a fuse underneath the hood. Well the mechanic that the electric co. called checked that along with several other things--Had to end up having the darn thang towed back home: she's still sitting out there now--won't start, but just like before it turns over-battery is getting hot/fine....Any Help At All Will B Greatly Appreciated--Thanks.!

I am having the same problem as Amy who reported her car would start and then run rough, then stall. It is very frustrating as it will not do it everyday. My car is at my mechanic and he can't get it to duplicate the problem. Load tests show nothing abnormal, battery connections are fine. I am wondering if it is the chip in the key itself I had the kill switch bypassed to to it not starting at all last year so I don't know if this is related or if the key needs replacing.

i would start the car and it would sputter for awhile. when i hit the gas it was like nothing was coming through because the needle wouldn't move and it wouldn't revv up. then it would just die. it was so annoying. it does it at least once a week or every other day. its getting worse. what could it be?
