problem #2

Grand Prix

  • Automatic transmission
  • 160,000 miles

The key is stuck in the ignition on our 99 Grand Prix. Can turn the ignition forward but not backward into the original starting position to remove key. When turning key forward the engine does not turn on nor does anything with the battery work-radio, power lock, windows, seat, etc., no interior lights come on, and can't get the gear shift to move.

Grand Prix SE 3.1L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 123,653 miles

Giving the car to my daughter and have to fix all the problems first. Seems like there are hundreds of people having the same issue. You would think GM would step up to help, with a campaign fix. I'm going to try some of the fixes listed, starting with pulling the console and checking for loose or broken wires. If that wont fix it then I'll try the earplug trick under the steering column. I'll let you know how that works
