The contact owns a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. While driving unknown speeds, the accelerator pedal failed to depress or release when the outside temperature was high. Additionally, the revolutions per minute increased and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 150,000.
