The vehicle was leaking antifreeze. Had to use a special orange kind of antifreeze. Took this vehicle to the dealer 11-22-04 had coolant leak at the intake. January 6, 2005 a coolant light would stay on and replaced sensor. Had a coolant leak again. The dealer stated they needed to replace head gaskets.

Defective design of intake manifold plenum gasket on 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix -found cracked/leaking during routine service. Car has 52,000 miles, regular maintenence. Condition can lead to coolent in engine & engine failure. Repair is $650. This is a common condition in this engine caused by defective design. GM used a plastic plenum and gasket that cannot take the heat at this location. There are thosands of postings on the internet regarding this issue accross GM model lines. GM should warranty this repair and recall these vehicles.
