part of the laundry list for this demon spawn of a car especially as a single parent on a limited income: comes down to fix for convenience or for drive-ability

Intermittent problem with blower, ac, running lights, rear defogger. Blower usually works on 5. Jiggling the key seems to help, but no always. Leaving the key in the run position for 15 seconds before starting the car works sometimes.
Update from Dec 30, 2011: had to replace the ignition switch

Randomly, the driver information center, blower motor, heated seats and auto headlights would shut off, usually coming back on during the drive. Now that its started to get cold here in Iowa and I could really use the heat for myself and my 3 year old, it never wants to work. I've heard ignition switch from some other people on here, please let me know if this really fixed it for you, thanks!

I bought the car and first noticed the heater would come on and off with a mind of its own. I then noticed the driver information center (dic) was not coming on. Then noticed when heater would come on the lights would dim and the information center lights would come on but dim. The frustrating part is financially, I cant afford to have someone dissect for electrical issues, And in winters in Wisconsin with two kids I need to know I have heat to at least defrost. With purchasing a nicer car I would expect the heat to work but bc its not blower or thermostat its more of a manufactured problem. Seeing as how many others report the same exact problems. Not happy! What can I do? I heard a new ignition switch might work. What does the ignition switch have to do with heater?

first mech has always been good to me.so when all this happened I knew it was not his fault because we talked about solutions. tried new panel controls then comp diagnosis for other problem then finally replaced ignition switch which seems to be major intersection for electrical problems of car EXCEPT FOR DIG READOUT OF RADIO LOL. anyway heater/ac working fine now for 6months.good luck.

Heater works, but blower will come and go like it has a mind of it's own. When blower stops working, so does the auto lights. Luckily I can still turn them on manually. However, winters in MN require heat all the time, not just occasionally.

AC blower would go out, info center goes out, fan wouldn't work on any speed, headlights don't work, and it pretty much does nothing, except when it wants to. It is hot as hell and no air on car that has less than 50,000 miles. It's sad when reviewing problems with the Pontiac's on the internet that a number of them have had this same problem and Pontiac refuses to recall and fix what is broken.

Blower motor quits, Won't work on any speed. @ the same time the driver info center goes blank, also the headlights goes out if in the auto mode. Might drive just a few miles and it all comes back on. Wifes car so needs fixed or I may be.
