On March 3, 2009; my Pontiac Grand Prix gtp caught on fire within 10 minutes of me parking the car in front of the house. I went into the house and within minutes my neighbors were banging on the door saying my car is on fire. I already filed a complaint with GM as I was informed of a factory recall by browsing the internet. I never received a recall notice and GM says "because I purchased the vehicle used, maybe GM doesn't have my home address". GM says to leave the vehicle in it's post-fire condition until they investigate. How long will this take" now that I'm browsing more stories like mine involving engine fires in the Grand Prix I'm more concerned that GM is not taking this matter serious enough. How will GM compensate me for my loss???"

Loud ticking and oil light illuminated when car started. Checked oil and the oil was reading full. Took car to dealership and they say car needs a new engine. $7000 to replace the engine. There is 90,000 kms on car and it has always been serviced and synthetic oil and premium gas used. Dec/06 heard ticking took car to dealership, they could not diagnose problem did a hot oil change and tick stopped or was masked. Now we have a severe problem, new engine required and the car is worth nothing. It also appears to be a gasket problem. Was there a recall, this seems to be a recurring problem?

I purchased a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix on 9/19/03 with 12429 miles on the 3100 sfi 6 cyl engine, and now at 65,550 miles, the manifold gasket is leaking and filling the radiator with oil. The warranty is good up to 75,000, and I plan to get the repairs made by the dealer under my contract. However, this should not have happened to such a new automobile, and I understand others have experienced the same problem with this engine at 35,000 miles.

Problems with "service engine soon" light illuminated on dashboard. The vehicle wa taken to the dealer for repairs and two days later the vehicle hesitated and there was loss of power. Since this problem surfaced the dealer has replaced the main computer and a sensor. The consumer indicated that now the vehicle feels like it is slipping.

The windshield wipers worked intermittently. This occurred during a rain storm. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer on 3 occasions and the problem was resolved temporarily. The wiper would not go far enough towards the A-pillar. The dealer readjusted the left wiper arm. The vehicle engine stalled. While driving 40 mph and above the vehicle would vibrate. The technician determined that the driver's side front tire was out of balance and the passenger's side front wheel was out of round.. the cd player stopped working while it was playing. The turn signal switch broke off the steering column.
