The car recently had an engine fire about 15 minutes after turning it off. The entire vehicle was completely totaled. It was stationary and in a parking lot when the issue occurred, and the vehicle was not running.

I was taking off from a stop light sometime in March of 2014. I don't remember the exact date. As I was taking off there was a loud bang/pop noise and the car didn't want to move. So I pulled over to the side of the road about 200 or so feet from the stop light, shut off the engine and lifted the hood to check and see what the problem was. By what I could see there was nothing wrong with the engine. So I started the engine and put the car in drive and the engine just revved as if it was in neutral. I put it in third and it did the same thing. So I figured it was a transmission problem. Then I put it in second and it took off just fine but only went 50 mph tops. I would have to shift it manually to go into third or drive. After that happened the transmission worked until May 18, 2014 when everything except the reverse gear stopped working. I researched this online and I'm not the only person this happened to and they were all at an average of 103,000 to 105,000 miles on the car.

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix transmission slipping/jerking motion going from dead start or uphill/downhill. Seems very very dangerous as trying to pull out into traffic is never consistent and the jerking motion forces people behind to slam on brakes. Happens up to 3 times in a row. This is a very dangerous issue and something needs to be done about this I do not want to be driving in danger like this anymore.

Traction control (turned off) even thou it was off to begin with, then another message engine power diminished. Car wouldn't go over 30 miles per hour. I have never used the traction control feature since I have had the car.

I have had to replace the passenger side front bearings already one time this year and now the other side is "roaring" this is an '04 with 44000 miles. This is aggravating and I am sure that I am now changing brands. I have 2 Ford and 2 GM's and I continually have issues with the GM's.

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix developed problems with the electrical system and the transmission. Late last year, while the vehicle was parked on a nearly flat service, the vehicle jumped out of park, hitting and damaging another vehicle. The vehicle has repeatedly stalled on numerous occasions. The vehicle bucked when the transmission shifted between third and forth gear. Once the vehicle was placed in reveres the vehicle rolled forward and would not engage in reverse. The consumer had to turn the vehicle and restart it. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable to find anything wrong.
