My vehicle's engine shuts off on my while driving. Seems to happen most in hot climate temperatures and in the first 15 minutes of driving. When the engine shuts off, I start to lose steering and breaking which is a big concern when I am heading to work in the morning on an interstate highway. Sometimes the car will start up right away after I have pulled car over to side of roadway. Other times it can take up to 10 minutes before car will fire up after several attempts of turning the key over to hear engine turning over but not firing up. This issue has happened in other climate conditions as well and in different times of the day and on city streets as well. The most recognizable is the first 15 minutes of driving and hot, humid weather. I will put down the last date this happened which hot and humid and was on June 12 2017 but has happened on other dates as well. I had it checked out by a mechanic and he can not pin point the problem and told be to check into any recalls. I did and no recalls for my vehicle are needed at this time. I can't afford to keep taking my vehicle in to have diagnosed and no results or have repair done and issue not fixed yet.

While driving in town, making a legal U-turn at a safe speed, the power steering failed mid-turn and the car was very hard to control and the steering wheel jerked violently. It is unknown what caused the failure, however there is a recall on my vehicle concerning catastrophic steering failure. This steering failure was caused by faulty manufacturing/ equipment by GM.

On thanksgiving day 2014 my car cough on fire 10 minutes after my daughter and I got out of the car. I walked into a family members house and heard what sounded like a shotgun go off within about 5 to 10 seconds later another. I went outside to see what was going on to find my car engulfed in flames. We immediately called 911. The car was parked near a building structure with 4 or more vehicles parked inside. I quickly tried to remove my important property, pocketbook, and grabbed a water hose to try to keep the flames away from the structure as much as possible. The entire front compartment, motor mount and engine melted, was burned to the ground. The inside dash and floorboard was melted with large holes burned in them, and both front tired exploded and entirely melted as well. I had just left my house where the car could have easily been parked in my garage and set the entire house on fire. I have tried to stay in contact with GM for almost a year. They refused to return my phone calls after the initial two, telling me it would take a few weeks, for 6 months. They now refuse to help me in any way. I will never park a car in an attached garage to my house ever again in fear of my family's safety. I researched this car for recalls to find that there were thousands of recalls for this exact problem up until 2003 models, also to find that this issue had continued in the 2004 models with no recalls and fear the safety of others with these cars. GM needs to take responsibility for their mishaps and take safety seriously.

I purchased a pre-owned 2004 Grand Prix in good condition & with low miles in 2007. Shortly thereafter, I noticed water collecting in my passenger side floorboards when it rained. I did not address this when I should have, but that does not dismiss the current facts. The time before this latest flood, I contacted GM and started doing research as to what might be causing the problem. I found many other consumers complaining of the same issue, and found a direct answer from a non GM website, but which has GM 20+ year certified mechanics answering questions. One stated the problem was in 04 & 05 Pontiac Grand Prix's, and the leak/flooding was due to a water deflector kit not having been installed. I printed the information where it showed this being the problem, as well as the 7+ pages from consumers who experienced the same issue. I then took my car to a GM certified dealer in which I was directed by GM to get the auto inspected. The manager in the service department declined to look at the paperwork, stating they do their own diagnostic test. The latest flood had water standing in my back passenger floorboard and caused my blower motor to stop working. After an 8 hour work day, I had not heard back from the dealership, and when I called the mechanic said they still could not find where the leak was coming from. I had a collision in 2010 and they assumed that's what caused the leak, though I repeatedly told them the leak began 3 years before that. The next day I received a call from the dealership confirming what I tried to show them, that my car needed a water deflector kit, and to install it and repair my blower motor would be $400. They blamed it on the age of the car, and the collision I had in 2010. I am surprised and dismayed that GM will not admit or correct this problem, as it is obviously a defect upon manufacture of the auto. I would like this investigated.

I read the complaint about the vehicle under body being soaked from a driver taken it through the automatic car wash. I just noticed that my clothes left on the seat in passenger side front and back. That also the carpet and mats were saturated as well was my clothes. So I obviously have the same problem as the other complainant. I haven't taken it in yet but I am going to see if something can be done. Not sure of exact incident date. I know my clothes have been soaked for a few months now I have noticed but never thought anything of it. Then I lifted up the mat the other day. And noticed the carpet.

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix engine shuts down while driving. Immediate failure of power steering (impossible to make a turn while driving= scary!); electric/ electronic failure also. Then, after a complete stop, and key off ignition, the car restarts like nothing happens. The car when twice to the dealership, and did not find anything. They think that we don't know how to drive a car! this is a serious matter, and very dangerous! if someone dies from this occurrence, investigation will not concluded to this problem, but more likely to the lost of control of the driver! it happens 3 times to us already, and once with a grand-prix rental. Please check it.
