Losing a belt means: no power steering, no water pump(no coolant), no traction control, no battery charge, and a rough ride to repair station. The belt came off due to a design flaw in the drive shaft pulley. At the very bottom of the engine the harmonic balancer(pulley) is connected to the driveshaft with a rubber insulator in between. When that rubber wears it apparently drives the pulley off alignment shredding a belt and ultimately the belt comes off. There was a design change that when you get a replacement part it eliminates this rubber insulator. It took extensive investigating to find this one, an apparent known issue.
