If General Motors put as much effort as they do into their warning light system and applied it to the quality of the rest of the vehicle, they may not have needed to beg for a bailout. A friend of mine once said, if the check engine light is OFF on a GM product, the bulb is probably burned out. The 99 Montana dashboard is like a Christmas Tree. They go on, then off, then stay on, then you spend a fortune on emissions parts that far exceed the value of the car. My ABS light has been on forever, and now I guess the airbags are about as dependable as rain. The light comes on then off then on. The anti lock braking system is inoperable regardless of the status of the light. Go figure. Thank God I know how to winter drive the old fashioned way, by pumping the pedal myself.
