I had the problem 2 times with the transmission, now it slips, had the motor gasket problem. 2 times i had to change the relay for the fan (was only working on high( 4 and 5)). All lights are going high and low in the first 15 minutes. Painting problem too. The lock button is not working on passenger side. There is some water that is getting in the car when it rains. That's enough, that's why American cars company is loosing the market war against others.

Complete transmission failure at 88,000. Very known issue as reported by transmission people. I had this happened 2000 GMC Jimmy and the 2000 Montana; same model transmission. Known part failure that is responsible for keeping pressure constant in transmission. The problem happens in hot weather conditions and faulty part allows the transmission pressure to go down; hence damage. GM knows about poor design; does nothing.

I have had this problem twice my 2000 Pontiac Montana (extended wheel base) over the years. It currently has 173k miles on it but I've been taking very good care of it so it could still work for another 100k if I had my way. The first problem is that 4 years ago, I had to have the transmission rebuilt when it began to try to shift back and forth between gears at certain speeds and especially when I was traveling uphill. Everything was find for the next 80,000 miles and then it started doing the same thing. I've just had it rebuilt a second time! The fluids were always kept full and my careful driving style is not hard on the car. So is this a case of a poorly designed transmission by GM? Do I have to move away from American made cars?
