The contact stated that the brake pads were changed last year, but the failure has recently recurred. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 101,756.

The contact owns a 2001 Pontiac Montana. When the brake pedal was depressed, the contact heard the ABS lock up and the vehicle continued to roll forward. She stated that the vehicle would stop regularly, but would continue to roll forward when driving between 5 and 10 mph. On September 24, 2007, the failure resulted in the contact rear ending another vehicle. The other vehicle was not damaged. The contact's vehicle sustained damages to the driver and passenger side headlights and the hood. The vehicle was taken to the dealer in April and June of 2007 regarding this failure. On both occasions, she was informed that nothing was wrong with the vehicle, however, she and her husband believed that there was brake failure. The powertrain was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 114,701.

The consumer stated that 2001 Pontiac Montana was having the ABS brakes engage at low speeds of 10-15 mph. The instrument panel was showing the ABS and service traction needed lights on the dashboard. The consumer will take the vehicle to dealer for service. The consumer specifically stated that this just started happening last week. The dealer has not been contacted, but the consumer contacted Pontiac and filed a complaint with them.

While braking the ABS failed. As a result the driver rear ended another vehicle. The driver stated that the manufacturer refused to accept responsibility for the failure. A police report was taken and there were no injuries.
