2006 Pontiac Solstice passenger airbag light switches on and off with passenger present. Airbag no longer has function or working correctly and a trouble code has posted. There is no way to completely disable the airbag so my family and I could be traveling or delivering the car to be fixed and the airbag could possibly be deployed resulting in injury or even worse possible fatality. GM should recall vehicles with this problems as it is not just limited to a few but several thousand cases.

We just purchased a 2006 Pontiac Solstice and we are having problems with the passenger air bag indicator showing the air bag is off with a passenger in seat weighing over 160 lbs. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't and we have tried getting in the car and sitting in the seat different ways. Not sure what we need to do. I have read on several web sites that this is a problem and I worry when it shows not on and I'm sitting in the seat. This is a safety problem and feel GM should take care of this even if not under warranty. Our bumper to bumper warranty expired June 2, 2009. Don't know if the previous owners have problems or not. Incident could have been under warranty but we don't know when or if it happened to them.
