Sunfire 2.2L Dohc

I started up my car and turned on the rear defroster; I started to smell something like burning nachos and smoke started to come from underneath the driverside dashboard by my left foot where all the wire harnesses are. I did not see any burnt wiring, so I'm going to try the wiring manual and trace the short.
