The passenger seat air bag light on my wife's Pontiac Torrent has been on for the last 35k miles. The dealer determined that the problem was with a NFG seat sensor. For this they charged me $100 and then proceeded to ask for an addition $500 to fix it.
I did some research on the problem and found that GM issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) PIT4011F concerning this problem. This TSB covers vehicles built between 2005 - 2008 and include Buick, Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet, Pontiac Saab, and Saturn vehicles. GM has identified several manufacturing problems including missing hardware (connector retainer). A very limited number of VINs were recalled by GM for the problem but unfortunately my vehicle was not part of the recall. I have called GM customer service several times for this problem because I own two GM vehicles with airbag light on. GM is not willing to help.
Well guess what? Next time I buy a new vehicle it won't be a GM product! GM vehicles = POS
