air bags did not deploy air bags did not deploy

My 2003 Pontiac Vibe was the best car I ever had! The thing is, is that there was an airbag recall. I did take it in last year to have it taken care of. But when I got into a really bad accident last week 9/10/18, the airbag did NOT go off. So, what happened? Why was it recalled, and why didn't it work when I was in a really bad accident AFTER I brought it in to have it taken care of? That is really scary!

my daughter had an accident at vehicle that suddenly came to a stop and she hit him going 35 to 45 mph and did some major damage to her car (possibly totaled) and her air bags never deployed. she could have been seriously hurt. all the damage was to the front of the vibe so they should have deployed. NOT GOOD!!
