ims failure ims failure

IMS failure caused a COMPLETE DESTRUCTION of engine! Replaced original IMS bearing 1,000 miles BEFORE replacement failed. The original bearing was in a Stage 2 failure. Thought we had dodged the bullet…then came the shot! Went from nothing to "ball bearings in a blender" in NO TIME! No WARNING either! Replaced IMS bearing with KNOWN replacement brand and it failed! There is NO REMEDY for this problem! Regardless of what Porsche-O-Files say this problem and 20+ other items can CAUSE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE!

You DO NOT WANT TO OWN THIS CAR! Run, don't walk, away and far away! These are expensive to fix too. I was quoted $15k to replace an engine with a salvaged engine - the car was only worth $15k!!!

They are junk! That is why there is a lawsuit. Don't be a victim like I was! Find another car! IF I can HELP ONE PERSON steer clear of this car then my troubles may be worth something. Hear me now or remember I told you so later! No matter what the price IT IS NOT WORTH IT! Yes they handle great…but a car is the sum of parts - without an engine it is JUNK! That is what was sitting in my garage until I had it repossessed. Now it is someone else's problem but I lost a ton of $$$ in the process! YOU CANNOT AFFORD THIS CAR!

Boxster S

I bought the car with 22k miles. I have always owned better foreign cars never a Porsche.

Well I did not do the research and would up paying the price. It seems the pre 2000 Porsche Boxsters had huge engine failures, and they change the engine to one that had huge intermediate shaft problems. What gets me is they knew and make no bones about it. Strange. I had the misfortune of having one of the 79 cent bolts go through the engine housing. Porsche would not honor their 50k warranty on the grounds I was the second owner. Bought an engine from a recycler (less than 5k on it) had it installed and sold the car for 13k just to dump it. What can I say Mexico has Montezuma's revenge, and Germany has Porsche. Oddly enough the new Boxster has an Audi engine in it duh.

Well they are not good people.

had a IMS failure at just over 57k, this has happen to hundreds of Boxster with low miles. it destroys the engine, no other possible fix but new engine. there is a defect withe the intermediate shaft, Porsche knows this. will do nothing, when u purchase a car like Porsche you expect a curtain level or quality. i have had this car for 2 months, now it needs a new motor, i simply cant afford it.
