The day before the engine blew, I had a very nice high speed run with the car. I didn't push her hard, but she was going well into the triple digits. The next day the engine sounded a bit different, but had a lot more power than normal. After work, I was dropping off some paperwork and the intermediate shaft blew through the block. I had the car towed to Porsche and they told me it needed a new engine. About 2 weeks later, a new engine was installed and I was told the retrofit had been installed on the new engine and that I should have no trouble. This was at 22K miles. I now have just over 40K mi. The engine feels tight and I hope that Porsche truly solved the problem, because I'm out of warranty on her.

Bought used veh, really seemed to b taken care of. Ran like a top, at least I thought it did. Drove from flagstaff Az, 630 miles and engine took a dump. towed to los angeles where two towing companies took advantage of me, their cost now 1000. First shop, Motor Meister, had contract with and they stripped engine completely down.. then told me 20 weeks minimum to fix, this of course after I told them or signed contract that I was stranded. Motor Meister also told me I had to pay 100 per month for storage. Cancelled contract and towed to another shop. Paid Motor Meister off 1330 and had car and engine towed to 2nd mechanic shop. On inventory found missing engine parts and now have to go do battle with Motor Meister. Ordered new rebuilt from Vertex in florida. They told me would ship just as soon as I paid 10k for rebuilt and 4k for core. Once paid, they failed to get proper engine and had to reorder corrrect engine. Meanwhile stranded in LA, paying for temp lodging and rental car. I am now waiting for engine to be shipped, still waiting... What a nightmare!

I understand Porsche knows of the intermediate bearing being a defect but they continue sending out engines, if under warranty with the same defect! I feel like I am in a foreign country with nothing but thieves picking at my bones.
