This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ram dealer.
My Ram has a problem where it will start then go up to idle RPM then die. I left it with my dealer for a week but the problem didn't repeat for them. It happened again yesterday in Amarillo, Texas with a temperature of 7 degrees and my grandson in the backseat. Tried three times before it started. After that no problem since.
What's up? Dealer at a lost.

Tried top start my NEW 2012 Dodge Ram truck and when I turned the key everything went dead, released the key and the dash lights were lit but truck was not running. After 4-5 times of turning the ignition key, the truck started right up. This happened a couple of times and I took tit to the dealer about the third instance and told them, that it doesn't happen everyday , it could be weeks between this happening, but I am getting annoyed, THIS truck cost alot of MONEY. So they took the truck for 3 days and everytime they started it, it worked, even thoughI told them it could be a week or more before the problem arose again. They said they tightedened everything up in the ignition system and that was all they could do. I was told that I would have to breakdown on the road to be able to determine the problem. I have my doubts. It has been about 1 1/2 months and the problem started again this morning, I took it to the dealer. I will update you later about the next story I get. I did however video tape it this morning to show them
Update from Jun 8, 2015: So after several attempts to get the dealer to fix it, even video taping the non starting, the dealer would not fix it if they could not replicate it. I had it at the dealer one day getting the service done on it and low and behold when I went to pick it up it would not start. The mechanic come out and checked it out and said it was the starter, imagine that, I suggested that months ago. I think if Dodge started backing their product and taking care of the customer instead of trying to figure out a way to make excuses why they won't fix something, they might sell more trucks

This is the second time I have had to have my truck towed because of a faulty ignition switch. The first time was with my 2009 Dodge 1500 4X4. It took the dealership 25 days to fix it and they would not give me a rental even though the truck was still under the original warranty! Now I have this 2012 Dodge 1500 4X4 with less than 6,000 miles on it and the ignition switch went out on it. I am sitting here waiting on the tow truck to haul it to Fairbanks. That is 100 miles away and once again, the dealership will not give me a rental car! I have the extended warranty which covers car rentals! I have missed numerous days of work because of this issue. I will never, ever get another Dodge vehicle and I will never, ever buy from Gene's Chrysler Dodge in Fairbanks, Alaska!!

POS will not start without warning. Not sure if it is mechanic hood lockout switch or starter or just electrical. Had another company vehicle the same year do the same thing resulting in a $165.00 tow bill.
