If you look online for hemi problems, you will read about the "hemi tick". In a nutshell, the exhaust manifolds on Gen 2 hemis suck ass and warp. This breaks the heads off the bolts, and you get to listen to a very annoying exhaust leak. The dealers have 3 options to fix under warranty - 1) replace the manifolds, 2) machine the old manifolds flat, or Fiat/Chrysler's favorite 3) replace only the bolts.

None of them are good long term fixes. After some all expense paid vacations to the dealership (warranty), the new bolts snapped off after 10,000 miles, and I drove around listening to my new diesel engine for around 50,000 miles (I wanted to make sure everyone heard this lovely machine purr, I'm petty like that).

Anyways, the only known cure to the hemi tick is to jettison those marvels of cheap metallurgy and replace them with aftermarket headers. I went with BBK as they are short tube direct replacement and I didn't have to touch the computer afterwards. Side bonus, a little extra get up and go above 3000 rpm.

Have a exhaust rattle and mid throttle and up. Or when pulling a trailer or climbing a hill. Neither of two dealerships have been able to repeat problem for some reason to be able to fix it. But I can make it do every time I drive it.
