My Ram 1500 was great, now I hate it. Only 12,500 miles and roughly 4 months old. the driver's side door panel electric window component melted and smoldered to a flame while I was at the back of the truck loading it. I looked up and smoke was bellowing out of the door. I had the doors open and listening to the radio while loading stuff into the bed. I pried out the door lock window button piece and disconnected the wiring harness and it quit burning.
A friend said, why did you put it out??
The local dealer is nice but embarrassed. The Dodge Corporation has poor service, I have to call and call. They do not follow up with the customer. The fire is under investigation. They have had my truck two weeks already. Local dealer has parts but I do not trust the truck anymore. Frustrated. I compromised and tried my first Dodge, now I regret it. It's the last Dodge also.
A friend said Never say anything to a man that has a Dodge. I asked why, he said Cause he's mad already.

I was driving @ 10km/hour and all I did was push the electric button on drivers door to open the right passenger window, the window opened and then about 30 seconds later there was a bellow of smoke from the left driver's door where the electric button is. The smoke filled the cab of truck within a minute. I stopped the truck and got out and drenched the door with water. I was very scared to start the truck again because I did not know if it would catch on fire. When I arrived home about 10 minutes later I drenched the door with more water. This same night had me worried the truck would start on fire again. I called the Dodge dealership, Gustafson's but I will get an appointment until August. They seemed like it was my fault the truck started on fire, but all I did was push the window button. I am not happy and wondering if I should trade the vehicle in! Very unhappy and confused what to do!
