Intermittently the tailgate lock would just make a horrible grinding sound when locking or unlocking the truck. If the grinding sound occurred and the tailgate had been locked you could not open the tailgate as it remained locked. When it finally started occurring more frequently, and with my warranty about to expire, I had to demand they replace the mechanism.
