Problems from day one with “bump stops” and a service shifter warning light. The problems continued with intermittent random warning lights: tire pressure, service air bags, traction control, service engine, etc. The dealer service department replaced the shifter motor but the problems continued with occasional lockup in a lower gear with no indication on the dashboard that the manual limit had been set. During such lockup the gear-/gear+ touchpad would not respond and neither would the cruise control touchpad. The lockup could only be remedied by pulling to the side of the road, shutting down and then restarting the engine - tantamount to rebooting a computer. The service department did a “trans software update, flashed TCM and performed trans quicklearn”. This fixed the bump stop problem but the intermittent warning signals and lower gear lockup continued. The problems were noticeably worse when the air conditioner motor was running, the road was bumpy or a quick stop at a traffic light occurred.

The service department with assistance from Chrysler Engineering diagnosed the problem as a damaged wiring harness. The damage was caused by incorrect routing so that the wiring rubbed against the air conditioner compressor resulting in a flaw in the insulation. Since replacement and corrected installation of the wiring, the vehicle operates without any noticeable problems.
