I purchased my 2014 Ram 1500 on January 3, 2015. A month later, I had rust spots showing on my rear bumper. We have repeatedly waxed this bumper since the initial finding, to no avail. It looks great for about a month (if I am lucky) & then starts rusting again. Now, here we are in April of 2016 & it has spread to the side (where it wraps around) of the bumper also.

This truck was my dream truck so it is pampered more than any truck in my house & we have 3 Rams. I really feel like a vehicle this new should NOT be rusting already. I'm going to take it back to the dealership & hopefully they will replace the bumper. The front one is fine, it's the rear one that is really annoying the crap out of me. I didn't pay this much money to have rust start 1 month after purchase & continue no matter what I do to it. Something needs to be done about this problem by the manufacturer. Suggestions????

premature rusting premature rusting

My bumpers are rusting. I was told by the Dodge service manager at the dealer where I bought the truck that it's my fault for the bumper rusting. "I was using the wrong chrome polish". Tristar Dodge in Uniontown Pa.

Truck is only 5 months old but front and rear chrome bumpers are rusting on the edges. This is not due to stone chips but clearly inferior quality of the plating.

front and rear bumpers rusting

Bought the truck in December, I wash it, love it and look after it inside and out. One wash in February I was towelling off the truck when I noticed rust spots on the rear bumper. When I took it to the dealer they said "rail dust" however few weeks later I had full blown rust around edges and park sensors. Talking to dealer now about replacement. One guy mumbled that "this is a known issue" no one else would fess up to this however.

Will update as story progresses.
