While driving 2014 Ram 1500, an electrical issue caused it to lose cluster power, and steering.

Every few months I have to replace the light bulb-headlight bulb. IF ONLY one time I wouldn't be here. Every 4-6 months--- That works up to 12x. The truck is at 63K miles and at 75$ per occurrence, this has become a $1000 expense over the life THUS far on this vehicle. percentagewise you do the math. I bought this truck brand new. 2014- 2020. Entirely to much expense for a simple item. To be noted -the other one has never been replaced.

Do a web search for the following on this van "Service ABS, Service ESC, Service Hill Hold Assist, Limp Mode" and you will find this to be a common problem but none will offer up a solution. When we bought this van it had 112,900 miles on it and have not been able to use once for our company needs for light courier work. When randomly driving between 50 - 65mph the dash lights up the ABS and ESC lights in orange and a message at the top will scroll across saying" Service Hill Hold Assist" as a warning tone sounds.
We have taken this vehicle to two repair shops; one specifically that specializes in PCM / ECU error codes and sensor related problems and uses the very specific Chrysler Diagnostic software to log and analyze the vehicle's PCM. Here is what we have done:
- Twice we have replaced CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR 2, BANK ONE (PART # 5149141AF) - Replaced oil filter with Genuine Mopar Oil filter - Replaced OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT (PART # 5149062AB) - Replaced ENGINE OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING W/ NEW GAS SET for IN-TAKE MANIFOLD (PARTS # 68105583AF, 5184562AC, 5281824AA)
NOTE: All parts were genuine Mopar.
Total cost of repairs $1,570.61 and did NOT resolve the problem. With a company vehicle that travels on the interstate at high speed and intermittently goes into limp mode, we found this van to be not only be dangerous but also useless to our operation and will be forced to trade it in to a RAM dealer for another van.
If you have experienced this problem with the RAM Promaster 3.6L Gas engine and found the solution then please contact me. Thanks!

The trailer plug left side does not work. The brake light does not work. I checked it with a tester and it has no power coming to it.

THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A POOR DEALER SERVICE (AUTONATION SPRING, TX) WAITED SEVERAL WEEKS FOR THE APPT, TOOK IT AND LEFT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT JUST TO CORRECT A THIRD STOPLIGHT BURNT. PICKED IT UP JUST TO FIND OUT THEY DIDN'T DO JACK.
Update from Feb 3, 2019: My UConnect isn't working and they said that they don't work on it anymore. I only have 16,000 miles and UConnect has been a problem since new. I also have the bump in the transmission problem

First, the front park sensor quit working. Then the engine light came on. That would randomly go off and on. Then the gas gauge quit working. It either registers empty or full. Now it is saying a brake light is out. One by one, the truck is going to pot. Very irritating.

Strike two! The 5.0 radio failed again. This time the display shows the RAM logo and reboots intermittently while stuck on the 70's station playing DISCO music. The controls do not work (volume sometimes), backup camera on when its not supposed to and visa versa, and park sensors fail. The dealer tried to reprogram it but failed. The last time it occurred the radio was replaced. It took over a week to get an appointment then, and 10 days to ship, then another day to install. Waste of my time. Not it takes 2 weeks to get an appointment, and they say it will take 10 days to ship. I expect it to arrive Thursday before Christmas weekend and with Monday the observed holiday, I hope to get it replaced before the new year. They say it might come sooner and I hope it does. The 5.0 radio display has issues reported on other forums including RAM owners forums. There is no mention of recall for this issue.

Radio not working properly. Frozen display and would not accept user input. No radio, backup camera or park sense (Nav not installed) 5.o display. Dealer tried to reprogram but ended up ordering a new radio. New radio solved the problem.

Lock & Go feature does not work correctly sometimes. Horn toots, but doors don't lock. Sometimes nothing happens until button is pushed numerous times. Tailgate sometimes flies open after the locks engage at take off.
Update from Aug 17, 2019: Garbage truck - FCA bought back - Never again!

My previous Ram 1500 was 14 years old (without many problems), so when I was ready to buy a new vehicle, I found a 2014 that was still on the lot at a good deal, and I bought it. Wish I hadn't! 2 weeks to the day I bought it, it was sitting on a rollback. No, it wasn't in a wreck. I came out of work and noticed my key-fob wouldn't unlock the door. I used the key to unlock it, but my gauge needles were jumping and the lights for the shifter were flashing. I tried to start it, and nothing happened. After some time, it did start. I drove it 50 feet or so, and the gauges went crazy giving me all sorts of warnings about all sorts of systems that needed servicing, and the windshield wipers started and wouldn't stop, and my power steering went out. I stopped and called Roadside assistance who towed it to the nearest dealer (not the one from whom I purchased it). I was told it needed some update, and in a couple hours, my truck was running again.
About 2 weeks later, the same thing happened as I left work. This time, however, when it finally started (about 20 minutes after I tried), there were no issues with the gauges, and since it was late, I drove home from work, and had no more issues.
About 2 weeks later as I was leaving work, it happened again, and this time when it started, the gauges went crazy again. I was almost scared to drive, but I made it to the closest dealer (again, not the one from whom I purchased it). After having it a couple days, they found a loose wire and told me they hoped it would solve it. Before we could drive it off the lot, it had happened again. It is still sitting there, and they don't know what to do.
I have talked numerous times to the dealer who sold it to me, and they have been no help.
Also, I accidentally figured out how to reproduce the issue. If I lock the door with the door lock button on the door, close the door, and hit the lock button on the key fob, it puts the truck in this same mode where my truck will not respond to the key fob, the gauges jump, and the truck will not start for awhile. However, when it does start, everything is fine (at least from appearance sake). I have given that information to the dealer who has it, and they have used it to put it in this "fault" mode (as they called it), but they still can't find out what is wrong.
This is really disgusting--especially when I sold a 14 year old Ram that never left me stranded for a brand new one that has spent a lot of time at the dealer because it won't run as it should. The dealer I bought it from has offered to "look at it" if I will have it towed (at my expense) to them, but for now, I haven't done that because I fear I will drive 2 hours to pick it back up, drive it home, and need to have it towed back to them (at my expense). Both the selling dealer and the one working on it are Ram dealers.
I don't know if the moral of this story is that I shouldn't have bought a new Ram or I need to quit my job (since it always seems to happen when I'm leaving work--lol). I really want to keep this truck, so has anyone encountered anything like this and found a solution? If I don't find one soon, I will be forced to start the process of dealing with the lemon law (which I hear is not a fun process).
Thanks!

Well first, this is my second Ram, my first one was a good truck, this one is a nightmare. Have had it in for electrical issues 8 times, it only does it once in a while but when I start it up all the warning lights come on, the engine, airbag, traction control, battery light, lose all the info on radio display, as I drive it they go away except the engine light. When I took it to dealer it spit all kinds of codes, the tech said he found a plug under the hood that was not in all the way, he reset everything, it did fine for a couple of days then the same thing happened. Took it back ,said they could not find anything, they reset everything again. On the way home guess what, idiot lights again, have had the truck back to dealer 8 times. I've had it to the body shop three times for factory paint and body issues, all I get from Chrysler and the dealer is the run around.
If I ever get out from under this truck I will never buy another Ram. What is sad is me and my family have bought several other vehicles from this dealer and now we have been treated like we have the plague. If this is Motor Trend's truck of the year how much did that cost Fiat/Chrysler to pay the testers at Motor Trend.

While driving the 2014 Ram 1500 I turned on my brights and the cluster and other electronics went out. This also affects steering and braking.
