1500 Sport 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50 miles

I am 54 years old & have owned ONLY Dodge vehicles except for one Chevy.

I am totally let down by my chosen favorite automaker. This engine problem should have been resolved. Not sure if I will buy another Dodge or Ram vehicle ever.

1500 Express/tradesmen 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,000 miles

Common issue with Dodge/Ram for the hemi tick. Need better solution than the customer continuously replacing parts that seem to trend on failing.

1500 Lone Star 5.7L V8 Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 141,038 miles

In my research it turns out that the Hemi engine has been plagued with this problem. The needle bearings go out on the lifter and flatten the cam in low mileage and high mileage vehicles. A major design flaw that Dodge has not addressed.

I will never buy another Dodge.

1500 Longhorn 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 131,731 miles

Ticking noise from engine so called dealer and took in to have checked out. They told me that it was camshaft and lifters and would be a 2 to 3 month wait on parts, said it was the first they heard of this problem then after talking to him he admitted that they have another one sitting in there lot waiting on parts also. I suggested they try to find after market cam and lifters but declined but offered to install an engine from a 2012 truck but with no warranty. I declined there offer then they offered to take my truck on trade for a new one but again I declined as they would only offere 12,000.00 for mine. They then offered to sell me a new one at a discounted price but after calling other dealers to check on price there was no discount. I have talked to numerous people that I know and work with and they all have heard of this problem with the hemi. If there is such a demand for parts that they are back ordered why doesn’t Dodge do a recall and fix the problem. I have since picked my truck up and will get repaired another place and have purchased a new Chev to replace the total lack of care or customer support from Dodge. There will never be another dodge on my place and will inform any and all that will listen that Dodge does nothing to help themselves with consumer relations.

1500 Outdoorsman V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,700 miles

Ticking noise in the engine and significant lose of gas mileage. Took it to the dealership and they replaced the camshaft and lifters on the left head. This was covered under warranty and done at 92,700 miles. At 107,000 miles back at the dealership again with the same problem. Now the right side camshaft and lifters had to be replaced and not covered under warranty of course. It seems this is a common problem with these trucks so what I want to know is this going to happen every 100,000 miles? I love my truck but this is a major problem.
