The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. While driving various speeds, the fuel gauge would register empty, even with a full tank of fuel. In addition, the check engine and fuel sensor failure indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer in chantilly, Virginia where it was recommended that the fuel pump be removed for inspection. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

Check engine light came on while driving and message stated problem with fuel system sensor. Gas gauge would read empty even though there was fuel in the tank. Brought to dealer - technician verified code P0463 fuel level sensor circuit high; tested system and found faulty fuel pump module. The truck only has 32,224 miles but wasn't covered under warranty because it's over 3 years. Cost for new fuel pump module was $456 plus $347 labor ($803 total). When reviewing complaints on this year truck/model other people had the same problem with this part shortly after the warranty expired. It would seem that this should not happen with such low mileage and in my case, since the truck has been properly maintained according to the manufacturer's recommendation. Clearly there is a problem with faulty fuel pump modules in 2014 Ram 1500 trucks.

On 11/22/17 at around 5pm driving East bound on I-76 in Pennsylvania our 2014 Ram 1500 ecodiesel engine caught on fire. As I tried to stop I realized I had no brakes. We slowed to a stop as we started up a hill, I put it in park and we all got out just in time. A certified Chrysler mechanic had just 2 days earlier finished installing a new engine. Both the dealership & Chrysler have denied all ownership and no root cause evaluation has been completed. I believe a fuel line failed due to faulty workmanship, but without a third party independent investigation I guess we will never know and some other customer may experience the same thing.

I have a recurring issue with rodents chewing through the fuel line on my 2014 Ram 1500. This has happened 3 times since December, 2016 and is a very dangerous issue that Chrysler is aware of. The fuel line, according to multiple techs and representatives who have worked on my truck, has connections made of a "soy-based" product which is attractive to rodents. When the lines get chewed through, the fuel begins to leak very quickly while I have been in motion on public streets. One of the three times, my rear tires actually lost traction completely causing me to briefly lose control of my truck. The amount of fuel that leaks is significant, usually emptying my tank from nearly full to empty in seconds. I have had to have the fire department respond before the truck could be towed due to the significant fire hazard this posses. If there were to be an ignition source of any kind, the truck would catch fire and possibly cause significant harm to myself or others. I have brought this to Chrysler/Ram's attention and they have made no effort to have this issue resolved, although they acknowledged the danger involved with this problem. The reps I have dealt with explained that this fuel line is made with soy to make the part "eco-friendly". the repair is costly and, according to the repairing dealership, can only be made using the same flawed "soy-based" fuel lines. I have attached pictures showing the chewed connections as well as invoices for the three repairs I have had made. Other car companies have class action suits for soy-based wiring harnesses and fuel lines, so I do not know why this has not been recalled with the Ram trucks. I would like this issue resolved as this could be very dangerous and would only be a matter of time before someone is seriously injured from this design flaw. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Driving along at highway speeds, the "throttle control sensor" light comes on for a quick second, then goes off, and "enginge light" goes on. Withing seconds, the truck loses power, giving you little to no time to prepare and react. It has happened in L.a. on frwy with loads of traffic, it's so dangerous trying to get over to the side without being killed! it has happened 2 tiimes while in tow mode pulling trailers, again so dangerous when suddenly you have no power. Once while pulling horses in the trailer, on an up-hill, with cars behind me and no where to pull over (no shoulder). So unsafe, I was badly shaken over that one with my horses in tow. So this has happened 4 times to us, Dodge has had in shop 4 times and cannot fix. It is terrifing to be going along and have your power cut in a moments time, and be in "limp mode". we can no longer trust this truck. So dangerous

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. Immediately after shifting the vehicle into drive, the check engine indicator illuminated and a "fuel pump sensor failure" message appeared as the fuel gauge failed to function. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer stated that since the contact did not have an established relationship with the dealer/manufacturer, they could not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 42,800.

Started the truck, received check engine light and fuel sensor failure flashed across screen. While driving vehicle to dealership there would be a notification noise then gas gauge would drop to empty causing vehicle to act as if it had no fuel. Dealership found P0463 (fuel lever sensor circuit) and recommended fuel pump sender be replaced.

Starting at about 30K the check engine light came on and the error code read PO456 (small evap leak), Dodge dealer (peterson ) stated that the computer was so sensitive that they (the dealer) could not detect such a small leak.. so I was told they changed out some common items that had known issues and it should be fix.. at about 37K same exact issue same exact error code same exact response from the dealer.. but this time I was told they just replaced the whole evap system and to make sure I don't overfill the fuel tank.... now at 54K same exact issue same error PO456..but now a much more noticeable heavy 'fuel' smell in the cab ' and I've been very careful not to 'overfill' the fuel tank'.best part dealer is saying sorry out of warranty.. huh, that's convenient.

I have had multiple check engine lights come on stating that there was high voltage on the fuel sensor as well as had my fuel gauge stop working and my cluster read fuel sensor fail. The dealership said it was a dead spot in the fuel level sensor and the pump had to be replaced but won't cover it under warranty. This happens now every time my fuel gauge gets to 1/2 a tank and goes off when I get under a 1/4 tank

My 2014 Ram 1500 had to have its def (diesel exhaust fluid) tank replaced. I was told since it is an emissions component it is not under warranty. It cost over $2000 to replace this tank only because the sending unit was inoperable. The sending unit is integral to the tank so you could not replace the sending unit. The sending unit would not register a full tank. When the unit indicated the tank was empty (when it was not) the vehicle is required to go into limp mode(3-5mph). This could be very dangerous when driving long distances in remote areas.

Diesel exhaust fluid (def wasn't mix with the fuel to make the truck run properly. Truck won't stay start. When truck start only go 30mph. Has been in shop 10 times since I purchased it in May 2015. It is in the shop with no eta on the part so I am in a renter since 6sept2016. The dealership only cover 5 days of renter. So I am responsible for the remain of renter until truck repaired and still making my truck payment of $613. One time I was on the highway and it just stop wouldn't start at all had to be tow to the shop. The rest of the stop and go was on streets.

You will be driving up an incline, not a steep on. The engine starts missing like it needs a tune up. It'a noticeable miss. We have another problem with the dash screen. The screen in the middle that tells you your mileage. It will start going in and out. Mostly, it blacks out. We have mentioned this to Dodge garage and they tweeked the screen but, it still does it, they also, tweeked the engine. Theyn still do the same thing. I, M worried that we'll be going down the road and the truck will suddenly stop in the middle of the road.

Hi, (to Chrysler) the facts: 1.- my truck suffer of a delay when you try to start moving, from the moment that you press the gas pedal and the moment that the truck respond and start moving. I can say is about 1 to 2 seconds delay 2.- the delay caused this week to be almost rolled over for incoming traffic. When you are at the very congested intersection and you need to get in to the incoming traffic fast this is not possible with this truck 3.- the truck does not change gears when it is lacking of power, you can press the gas pedal for about one inch an it does not do anything. 4.- again when you need to change lanes or you need to advance in a hill it does not happen. When you press the pedal you need to go all the way down for the truck to respond and when it happens it changes to a lower gear in such way that instead of having acceleration it is decelerating instead. 5.- when you need to start moving the truck slowly to approach some hing it will not do that it will jump and at that point you are close to crash it on the thing that you are approaching 6.-I gave you 2 months trying to become more familiar with the truck behavior, but what I found is that I can manually change the gears and make the truck to respond as a normal vehicle, changing gears gradually when it is losing power if I can make the truck to change gears with out jumping 4 gears down why your computer is not capable of do it? I believe that is unacceptable. I pretty sure that the truck can have computer issues, or the gas pedal transmitter or the gas actuator have issues, or the computer program is not working as a planned, or transmission issues I need your help solving these issues thank you very much

There is a disturbing trend among automakers to eliminate dipsticks from their transmissions. This can be potentially dangerous. I purchased my 2014 Ram 1500 new late last year. Returning on a road trip to New Jersey last month the transmission jerked horribly. Once back home I promptly took it to the dealer for service. They reprogrammed the shift points and it worked smoothly for a few weeks. Then it started slipping at 10 mph. I brought it back to the dealership. They checked the fluid level from the fill port on the bottom of the pan and discovered it was a quart low from the factory. This is a terrible design and forces owners into three options ; 1. ignore their transmission.2. have to take it to an expensive mechanic or the dealer. 3.this is where it can get dangerous, get underneath their vehicle with the engine running to get the fluid to the necessary temperature to accurately check it. Hundreds of thousands of shade tree mechanics will endanger their lives to check their fluid levels. Ford has a similarly flawed design on its pick up trucks as well. Had I known about this before I bought the truck I would have gone for the Chevrolet with the conventional dip stick set up. The main reason I bought the Ram was for its highway cruising range. I covered 750 miles on a single tank ( 32 gallons ). however there is more to the ownership experience than that. Being able to check simple things like fluid levels before, during, and after a cross country road trip and just around town is very important. With all the volumes of motor vehicle regulations on the books I don't know how this design was allowed to go into production. Also, the rotary shift knob on these 8 speed transmissions seems like a fatality waiting to happen. Also, the transmission pan is constructed of plastic with the filter built in to the pan.
