I bought my 2014 RAM 1500 back in the spring of 2020. Two months later in 80+ F temps, the Air suspension went out for the first time. I brought it into a shop, it sat overnight, and the next day the issue had resolved itself (that what it appeared). Then 6 months later, the same issue again. Riding on the bump stocks, computer saying it was at "drive height" when in actuality it was in load/unload mode. Brought it into local dealer, where they said they found some leaks and recharged the system and that I was good to go. A couple of suspension failures, over the next few months that fixed themselves within the next day.
Then in December of this year, the suspension went out again. Brought truck into dealership on 12/31/2021 it was diagnosed with a faulty compressor. Extended warranty covered. I had to wait a week for parts etc. I picked my truck a week later, and about a mile from the dealership "service suspension" light came back on. Figured the computer just didn’t get reset, and drove home. Brought truck back to the dealership the next day, told them the issue was still going on. They then re diagnosed as a leak in the "tank" which was then replaced and covered by the extended warranty. I went back about a week later when they said it was ready, and this time I tested it out at the dealership and also noticed that it wasn't sitting level. I went back into the dealership and told them the problem was still not fixed.
They kept it again and this time diagnosed that the suspension control module was faulty and that it needed to be replaced. Again the extended warranty covered the repair. Now the issue is still going on. Dealership states to me that the rear springs (air suspension equivalent) are leaking and that they need to be replaced as well. Extended warranty is saying they won’t cover it because the dealership has misdiagnosed the problem repeatedly. The dealership has given me a loaner which has helped but I haven't had my truck for over a month now and while there are a few newer parts. It’s no closer to being fixed than it was back in the beginning of January.

Every winter I’m getting the same problem. Air suspension is not working and I have to figure out a way to get to work. Even though I have a $70k truck that’s doesn’t work 5months of the year

Just yesterday, the truck nearly left me stranded 40 miles from home, AGAIN. I was able to limp it back, but now it will need to be towed to the dealer for repairs.
I cannot express enough how irresponsible this is of FCA. As a CUSTOMER, throughout this 3-4 year ordeal, dealing with this faulty air suspension system, I have been left stranded on the road, missed several days of work, PAID money to fix it a year ago, been without a vehicle for a total of at least a dozen days and spent countless hours at dealerships, only to have the SAME problem persist with no suitable fix.
I must reiterate, IDENTICAL SUSPENSION PROBLEMS BEGAN WELL WITHIN MY WARRANTY PERIOD. It is not my fault, as a CUSTOMER, that this suspension system is, not only faulty from the start (especially in Northern climates), but FCA technicians are unable to properly diagnose this vehicle's suspension problems. It is not my fault that process has taken me outside of the vehicle warranty.
Three years, two compressors, and one valve block later, the SAME PROBLEMS persist. This was NEVER diagnosed properly from the start. In addition, NOW THE DRIVESHAFT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. Once again, this poor design is NOT MY FAULT as a CUSTOMER. Every single time the suspension fails on the road, the vehicle drops so low that the driveshaft grinds on the crossmember, causing the driveshaft to become so worn that it is now a serious SAFETY HAZARD. What if that driveshaft comes apart on the highway!? FCA should have never designed such a dangerous system. I must stress, this is NOT MY FAULT as a CUSTOMER.
There are hundreds of other owners out there who have documented the same problem I am having.
Lastly, I'm not sure FCA has taken the time to consider how dangerous this system is when it fails. When the system fails, it has and will continue to cause DANGEROUS handling characteristics while traveling at speed. I sincerely hope it doesn't take a FATALITY for FCA to wake up and realize they have a very serious problem here.

Air ride falls and drops to bump stops. Happens with and without aeromode enabled. Easily replicated at 30 minutes of 60mph. Been at dealership for 4 months and counting with no solution.
Dealer said they replaced all air suspension parts, PMC, modules, compressor several times, and all bags. At month 3 I finally got a rental through dealer but I want my truck fixed. There is no logical reason this cannot be fixed. Dealer also stated they brought in Chrystler experts with no solutions yet
Does anyone have a viable solution?
Is dealer milking extended warranty?
What happens if they cannot fix it?
Frustrated does not ever come close to how I feel. Truck is still there since April 2021

Update from Feb 16, 2022: I wish I had something good to report to you but I don't. there is not a solution from Stalantis that will work and that will allow you to continue using an Air ride suspension for any reasonable length of time. My truck has spent the majority of 2019 2020 and 2021 in the shop and it continues to fail. New and more exaggerated issues have arisen. I have an ongoing case number with stilantis directly through their public relations and to date have not found any found any satisfactory solution. To date my hair ride suspension has been totally replaced 5 separate times I've had 7 different compressors 4 different air bag replacements and all of the airlines and electrical components replace at least 3 separate times all under warranty. As you can imagine I've had to spend my own personal money to keep a vehicle on the road for my family and is cost me thousands of dollars. I'm done with it
My truck only has 57000 miles on it it's been in the shop for several years and just last week I made the final decision that they could not resolve my situation and I was torn between trading my vehicle in Or replacing the suspension myself. After hours and hours and actually years and years of researching options I found airdelete.com out of Canada and contacted Brendan the owner. Brendan gave me some great insight and his own experience too the point that he created a business solely around these horrible air suspensions. From my conversations with him I decided to buy the Fox air ride conversion kit For a little over $2000.
Do yourself a favor and save yourself the frustration and make the decision now before Stalantis takes any more of your time or money. Either trade or replace the suspension with something Conventional.
I cannot speak to the quality of the airdelete.com conventional suspension as I haven't received it or installed it however their site is full of reviews there's plenty of places you can find online to see personal reviews and experiences and you will relate to his FAQs
I'll be receiving the new suspension at the end of March and installing it myself. There's a very simple Monroe suspension conversion video specifically for the ram 1500 that you can follow for any conversion kit conversion kit. the Fox suspension that I chose sets the typical ride height to offroad 1 which is exactly where I wanted it to be and offers a heavy duty airbag leveling kit in the event that you are towing Or moving any substantial payload. The front suspension also has adjustable up to 2" in both directions to allow you to better level the truck under regular usage it's manual but once you set it you forget it.

There are many complaints with the Dodge Ram 1500 air suspension system and Dodge needs to pull their heads out of their asses and fix the problem. When the weather is nice it works properly and when the weather is cold is fails. It is not my responsibility to fix a problem that they f*cked up on and don't want to take responsibility for. I will not spend 2,000 to 4,000 to fix it and they need to recall this and own up to their mistakes. I have had nothing but problems with my ram 1500 which i bought 2 years ago. Its a 2014 and I had the engine replaced under warranty, thank god, after the first month. Then the engine started to misfire because the dealers mechanics broke all the spark plug cables not one or two but all of them. They then tried to charge me to get them replaced and the heated seat, and a list of stuff. Mind you, this was only a couple of months now that I had it, I bought it just before Christmas to go to Florida for a week.
🙄 Then in mid-summer the air suspension began to tap out intermittently ever since going up when it chooses and down to the bump stops. It's causing the truck to be a 30,000 dollar brick and an accident waiting to happen, when it goes down any bump you hit throws the front of the truck into the air losing traction with the road and not to mention bouncing your around the place and everyone in the car. Sometimes it nearly bounces into the other lane. When you go to brake, if you hit even a small bump the truck losses traction causing the abs to think its skidding and you sh*t bricks as you're sliding toward the back of the truck.
Anyhow, I took it to the dealer to fix and he can’t fix it after a week of working on it and can’t find a problem so here we are on and of resetting the computer and replacing compressors and computers and valve blocks and lines and now what. I think maybe the solution the TIPM WHICH HAPPENED TO BE A RECALL IN EVERY OTHER YEAR BUT NOT MINE. GO F'N FIGURE.

Air Suspension failed again. Was at home and was able to get into the dealer with in the week. Replaced compressor again, still no fix to stop these compressors from failing in cold weather. Worked good for the rest of the winter.

Third time in 3 years this POS Air Suspension has failed. This time the front end lowered to the bump stops and the rear end went into off road 2. Happened while parked outside at work on a -30c day. Drove home and made an appointment but can’t get in for 3 weeks as there are so many Air Suspension problems the dealership is working on. Replaced the compressor for a third time! Still no fix for this problem. Called FCA and they said they haven’t heard of or know of any problems with the Air Suspension in cold weather!! That’s impossible as I knew of 4 people all with various years of trucks all with the same problem! Needless to say all of them got rid of those trucks and didn’t replace them with another Ram. At just under $3000 per fix I won’t be keeping this thing either after the extended warranty runs out unless FCA comes up with a permanent fix. This Air Suspension is awesome in the summer months as nothing can beat the ride but come the winter months it’s the worst piece of sh*t on the market. These trucks with the Air Suspension shouldn’t even be sold in Canada since they DON'T work for virtually 1/3 of the year!

Air Suspension failed over the Christmas holidays and had to drive the truck in this position for 250km to get home as nothing open. Made an appointment and had the compressor replaced, worked good for the rest of the winter. There was no reason to the compressor failure other then cold weather which is terrible news considering in Canada it’s cold for 1/2 the year!

Truck will not maintain adjusted height at highway speeds. It bounces around like a low rider. Very dangerous to drive. At slower speeds I have not noticed the problem yet but I do feel the truck is not riding at the correct height. Had same problems years ago with a 2003 Navigator. It was a $2k fix and I am expecting the same thing this time.

BOUGHT NEW 2014 ECO DIESEL. WINTER OF 2017 STARTED TO SEE TRUCK LOWER REAR SIDE WOULD BE ON BUMPER STOPS IN MORNING. THE ONLY FIX WAS TO GET IT TO HEATED GARAGE OR HOT CAR WASH. EVERY WINTER NOW IS A PROBLEM.
THIS SUMMER REAR SIDE ON BUMPER STOPS NOW. FINALLY PAID THE $2700 DOLLARS TO REPLACE BAGS, BUT UNSURE IF IT WILL HELP NEXT WINTER. TERRIBLE DEALING WITH FCA CANADA.

The Air Suspension freezes up when temperatures get below freezing. This is a known problem with this vehicle. As soon as I mentioned suspension the service rep's reply was " you have the Air Suspension" When this happens there is literally no suspension and the truck sits on the stops impeding handling/steering not to mention the truck is pretty much not driveable. I live 2 minutes away from the dealership and when the suspension freezes it takes me 15 mins to get there as I cannot go over 20 kph. I worry about driving on the highway because if this happens while at a fast speed it could cause a serious accident.
I have done some research and know there have been numerous complaints filed for the same reason and am just trying to get some definitive answers as to why FCA does not have a recall. My last time at the dealership cost me $350.00 to have the Air Suspension purged and filled with nitrogen (waste of money did absolutely nothing) and was informed that I would have to replace the compressor to the tune of $2800.00. I did not have it done as in all my research this still would not fix the problem. If my compressor was toast why is it that when temperatures rise above freezing the system works perfectly. What a cash cow for Dodge!!

MY AIR RIDE STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. IT AUTOMATICALLY LOWERED ITSELF TO ENTRY/EXIT MODE. I HAD NO SUSPENSION SO AS I WENT TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I HIT A BUMP AND MY TRUCK BOUNCED LIKE A LOW RIDER. MY HEAD HIT THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN MY TIRES HIT THE PAVEMENT, I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL. I NEARLY HIT THE CAR TRYING TO PASS ME. MY TRUCK LANDED IN A DITCH.
LUCKILY THERE IS NO BODY DAMAGE AND NO ONE GOT HURT. HOWEVER NOW MY TRUCK WILL NOT GO UP AND THE SERVICE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION IMMEDIATELY ERROR MESSAGE CAME ON. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT. I WAS RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED AND FOUND OUT THAT IT IS VERY VERY COMMON AMONG THESE TRUCKS! IT IS VERY SCARY. JUST BECAUSE IT DIDN'T COST MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE THEIR LIFE THIS TIME... DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT WONT THE NEXT.
IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE SOMETHING TAKEN LIGHTLY. DODGE NEEDS TO STEP UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS IMMEDIATELY!!! ITS A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. IF THEY DO NOT I HAVE NO PROBLEM TURNING TO THE NEWS OR SOCIAL MEDIA TO WARN OTHER RAM 1500 OWNERS OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER!

Early January 2019, 102417 km., warning on dash to service air suspension immediately. Truck periodically lowers to stops and won't raise. Dealer diagnosed as leaking left rear airbag (actually showed me the the leak). The upper portion of the airbag was porous. Also the air compressor had an over temp code from running continually.
The repair bill was $2338 (Can) and the compressor was replaced again under the extra warranty. The extra warranty came from the compressor being replaced already in January 2018. Without that warranty this repair bill would have been $4000 (Can). At the mechanics suggestion, I had both air bags replaced, even though only one was leaking.
Add it up. The air suspension was an $1800 option, January 2018 repair $1627, January 2019 repair $2338, total $5765. If the 2nd replacement compressor hadn't been covered by the extra warranty, add another $1627. That would total almost $7400. A conventional suspension would have cost $0. That hurts.
Now I have a truck that will likely cost thousands more to keep running and if I was to trade it off, it is devalued compared to a standard suspension (who knows how many thousand dollars).
Dodge needs to come up with a solution. They could come up with a conversion to a standard suspension or buy it back. So far they offered me "friend and family" pricing which I understand might amount to a few hundred dollars if I buy a new Dodge.

I bought this truck new in March, 2014. During a cold spell in January a warning appeared to service air suspension immediately. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty air compressor. The new air compressor was back ordered for a short time since there was a big demand for them. $1627 dollars repaired problem and gave 2 year warranty. Nice addition to Christmas bills. Thanks Dodge.
Dodge needs to come up with a longer term solution. Maybe they could convert it to a coil spring suspension.

Air system fails in cold weather. Ride becomes very rough, driving in ices and snow is less safe. Problem is intermittent as it clears when it warms up, but definitely linked to cold weather. I have also had to replace the air compressor fuse 3 times in 2 years.

Anyone who lives in the northern climates seems to have this problem with their air suspension, it sags down onto the bumper stops in temps below freezing. The front end may sink down, the back-end, or both. At first, once the vehicle was started, the pump would bring the suspension back up. After a while, the pump would no longer be able to bring it up and by continually running, it would overheat and blow a fuse.
The service manager at our local dealer has a Ram with air suspension and he has the same problem. He told me he "just doesn't drive his truck in the winter." This is not an option for me. He has been very helpful in taking my truck in whenever I call, but they have told me there is nothing more they can do, until Ram comes up with a fix.
I registered a formal complaint with FCA, but they told me to just call if it happens again. This is ridiculous, because the first time it happened, my truck was in the shop for over a month. This winter they have just changed fuses and handed me a couple extra to change myself.
It's so bad that I really have no options left. I was ready to trade when I learned of the EcoDiesel class-action lawsuit. I'll limp through the rest of the winter, get my settlement and sell the truck. I will never buy air suspension for a winter truck again. As to buying another Ram....I have my doubts. Every vehicle has issues, but when the manufacturer will not acknowledge or help you, well, that's unacceptable.

Hello, same as all the other complaints. In cold weather temps these air suspension do not function. I've had issues every winter- 3 compressors, ascm replacements, fuse replacements in a matter of 4 years, all in sub zero conditions. Coming up on end of warranty, anyone wanna buy a truck?
The air suspension is a defective system, I've submitted concerns to department of transportation, but I guess we need a fatality to have a recall initiated. When you lose your suspension it affects handling and control. In the winter I can make out all the rams that have air suspension-when its failed and running on bump stops, or the front end fails and the back end is way up in the air-looks ridiculous.
I see Ram advertising a newly designed air suspension system for 2019, I would stay away from those too. Fool me once.. shame on you, fool me twice.. shame on me.
HEY RAM/FCA how about fixing the old system? I'm left with a $65000 dollar vehicle that can only be driven in the summer. I will do my part to make sure I expose this defect where ever I can and warn anyone thinking about buying a unit with this system to stay far away.

The air suspension has froze up on the following days and I had to either bring to dealer to thaw out, or put it in my buddies shop to warm up.
Jan 2017 - 6th (the night I picked up the truck, only reason I didn't return it for another one is they 'promised' a recall was pending and they would fix it for free until then), 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 29. At this point I had my 'new' truck a total of 5 nights in my first month of owning it.

Jan 2018 - 1, 2, 4, 6, 11, 12 then I finally gave up and brought it back to the dealer.
Most, but not all of the times, I had to replace a fuse that costs $5/ each. Now I'm being told my compressor has finally failed and needs to be replaced at a cost of just under $2000, AND IT STILL WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM, IT JUST WON'T HAPPEN AS MUCH!!! When talking to my dealer, I was told there are 30-40 trucks on the lot waiting for the same part and all have the same issues. Was even told not to drive down gravel roads as rocks will puncture the lines and compressor.
I did some research online and got this number to call and complain 800-334-9200, I'll be calling daily until I get a recall on this or they finally get sick of me and buy it back. Everyone at the dealer knows it's an issue, so why sell them where it gets cold, I live in northern MN and we get about 30 days a year where it gets below zero and this truck is not usable.
